I was thinking of getting this game but decided to check out the forums beforehand and I am glad I did.
There are some the most ignorant and rude people I have ever seen in the gaming community. It makes the GW, Rift and WoW communities look like angels. There are a few considerate and friendly people here but they completely overshadowed by the haters.
Thanks for saving me $60 and do the rest of the gaming world a favor, keep playing Tera.
While this is an unfortunate reality, from my observations, this is consistent across all modern-day gaming communities.
I used to think if I just stay away and avoid these kinds of people, eventually I'll find a place where there are none. But after many years, that never happened...it's the 21st century, and treating people with great disrespect in somewhat anonymous settings has become a normal and acceptable activity. :(
We can't force people to behave the way they should, especially when they're not technically breaking any rules. However, I would like to think that for the ones out there who haven't gone completely over to the dark side, that maybe setting a good example by being the kind of people we wish others could be, we might help them see the world from a different perspective.
As others have stated, we're not all this way. I always do my best to be the kind of person that people would be glad to have back in their group. We shouldn't let those who are unable or unwilling to contribute, stop us from doing the things we want to do.
PvP servers: Mostly consists of douchebags (not talking about world PvP) across the board in every area chat and LFG chat. Though I've ran into some pretty damn cool groups of people on VoT and FV
PvE servers: A LOT less douchebags in chat, and the area chats doesn't consist mostly of brain killing text, though it can come up. So much less trolling >_<
Forums: Mostly consist of PvP players and people who are all (╯°□°）╯︵ â”»â”â”» Over anything EME does.
The way you described it sounds pretty textbook doo-doo. Unless you enjoy the company of idiots and whiners (although the whiners are entitled to every gripe they levy upon this crapstorm of a game).

I don't enjoy being with whiners or jerks so much, because with the forums I'm one of those people who will either praise something that a player or EME does, or complain about it (I flipped a ###### with the Elin censoring). Also. . .there have also been some great discussions on these forums to the point were I'd feel comfortable playing devil's advocate just for fun.
Anyways, there are gonna be players who [filtered] and cause [filtered]storms and what not for whatever reason (upset with real life stuff, for fun, etc).
However, I'll always look past the winning and entitled bull####. No community is perfect in my opinion, but there is always some good from your own perspective I'm sure of that.
Only reason why I'm sticking to Feral Valley (PvP) is cause I found a guild with some pretty cool players. Other then that I would have been pushed away and back into a PvE server for what KagoshimaJosh pretty much said. . .what's even more nice is the GvG thing being on PvE servers. World PvP is great, getting ganked as part of the leveling experience is fine by me, but a
healthier community+GvG>Troll community + GvG + wPvP
Yeah I don't really get people like that. As a healer, I can say stupid players have gotten us killed way more than new people who needed some instruction.
I feel you Magisbladius. I will never let people talk me into following them to a PVP server again. Now I am stuck till they allow PVP to PVE transfers while they moved on to Diablo :(

Or, as people exclaim how easy it is to level, in Tera, just go make and play toons on a PvE server, and quit yer [filtered]in.
