Sadly, until they disallow non-subscriber posting, we'll never have an accurate picture of how many paying customers are irritated.

And you never will, given the limited scope of the forums, you cannot hope to conduct a true Ipsos-reid polling of the population that is representative.

@Nerelith~ you keep conveniently avoiding that if WoW launched in this day in age, it'd have a vanity shop much sooner than in 5 years. Much much sooner.

btw *hugs* just keeping it friendly

No worries, I don't ignore you Now, I did Not ugnore you before, we are friendly

[...]

here is the big problem for tera.... Just because WoW did it...does not mean that Tera can do it, and survive as P2P for long...it will go free2play in time..

here is ONE reason I have, there may be others. cash shops.. whether ONLY vanity, or pay2win... which EME could imprement if they felt like it at anytime... are felt to be free2play elements... and some players, not all... might just ask.." if I have a cash ship..Like in free 2 play, that may in time sell pay2win..why am I paying a subscription?"

[...]

Just thought I'd say, ya know, that while I'm perfectly fine with premium services (race change, name change, server transfer, etc.) & a vanity shop in a P2P game, I also feel EME does need to be careful.

If they start adding P2W items to their shop, I for one will walk away (if I'm still playing at that point). They have stated before that they will not do this, but we all know anything can happen. Also, I do think the option to at least change hair style & coloring should be in-game and not a premium service, but anyway, bleh.

These days, a majority of games that started off originally as P2P do seem to have gone to either a F2P model w/ a...um...robust cashshop (P2W) or one of those hybrid models with a little of everything, including a sub option. TERA may very well end up going down one of these paths too. But none of us know right now if or when that would happen.

Lets face it if this game ever becomes a my wallet is bigger than yours so i win type game it would be a crying shame. I personally think the skins thing this game could be done allot better because omfg i have found some sweet looking gear but its crap stats make it worthless yet it looks unreal. Also the fact a cash shop has a negative effect in other ways where people start to look upon those who do not have cash shop items as a lower class player because they do not cough up extra.

Now coming from games that back in the day ( Yes i know i said that line) had no cash shops u needed to earn everything every step of the way makes a player more passionate about their gaming experience. I have friends who have thick wallets and can outspend most players buy their way to glory and riches ingame and then throw it away like an old toy after just a few months. I prefer to earn my keep as do allot of mmo players but also if some players wish to waste 500 dollars buying every skin in the cash shop for very char they have well so be it its not your cash so meh..

Sorry if this is a bit all over the place but its 2 am and i am ranting a bit .

empty content, ...try again ?

*rolls eyes*

Right, of course, what was I thinking.

We're done here Nerelith. You may wake up in the morning after checking your myspace and think "I'm not a troll!" but you talk and act exactly like one, and in the future I will warn anyone I see you baiting in with your ridiculous style of "debate" not to bother talking to you until your posts start to contain an iota of substance. Additionally, I am not going to bother conversing with you and do my best to ignore you until such a time that a forum feature is implemented that allows me to do that without some great display of willpower on my part.

Keep on not caring about anything anyone has to say though, after all nothing here really matters to you, right? I'll be sure to treat you with the same regard.

ooooh.. I will try to survive... really... after all, you not replying to me will be sooo hard for me to deal with..* tears*...

I care about Tera.... I care about what this cash shop spells for it's future,.... I am very willing to discuss those issues, ... I present my views and opinions, and why I feel this being implemented is a bad idea.

here is the problem, you and Hempboy, asnd Thundercat, like to lash out personally... you hide your troll like behavior, by pointing the finger at others and saying ' troll troll"

You get personal, I got personal. no loss either way, was fun.

When I see discussion I will engage, when I see personal attack, I may respond, I may fight back, or I might ignore.

All I have to say ..you not responding to me or engaging me, does not concern me, you are not the King of EME forums. You not engaging me, will Not affect my life, or my thoughts one way or the other.

I do love how you come off all" oooh we are done, you and me could have been engaged in Logics..but you screwed up.. Now I will Not pay attentionz " poor baby... it's ok, I am sure you will find someone else you consider weak to attack...that might care... :-)

anyway.. what were we discussing? Oh yes.. How a cash shop is a sign of greed....

that is very true, I for one think that Not allowing people without an active account would be an awesome move on the part of EME.

World of Warcraft works that wat, so does Everquest.

The idea is, Only people willing to pay to play, should be allowed to comment

personally I Hope this gets imprelented, it will keep players with " no skin in the game" from affecting players that do pay to play.

As to knowing how many people are affected negatively by the cash shop. Only EME really Knows. After all, all they need to do is Look at cancellations after the Implementation of the cash shop..compare to before the cash shop....

then look at the end of the Month , and see How many people Just allows their game to lapse..although tyhe second is less Indicative... Unless they followed it up somehow with some Kind of feedback like " I am cancelling becvause of the cash shop."

I think that no one outsude of EME really would Know for sure how population post June 1st would be affected only by Cash shop. I do know some of the player base might be leaving because of the Elin armor issue, and some leaving because EME never respinds to issues They simply roll out press releases which is Not the saame thing.

I Hope things improve, I Like this game.

PS:

The best thing EME can do is, when someone cancels, send them to a webpage instantly, as part of the uninstall process, that asks " Before you go... why are you leaving?"

It may already have it, I have no clue, since I have not uninstalled.

but... maybe they can send you an e-mail when you cancel, that says " pleease can you take a few Moments, and answer a few questions?"

I Know other Businesses do the same. it helps them to target where there may be weaknesses In the Business Model.

You forgot to mention the people that would leave because of you. I think you hurt the player base more than any of it.

Afternoon Nerelith! ^^

What about people who stopped/cancelled their subscription? Should they be ignored even though they purchased the game?

OMG just leave then......I will keep buying cash shop stuff as long as it doesn't effect game play! I'm not paying for a P2W game. And I believe they understand this.

It's business and a simple matter of which side is bigger. if the $$ they are making off the cash shops > # people complaining about the cash shops. then "o well". And i've seen a few people with cash shop items...so complain all we wait....people r buying them...

..and then you have the stupid one's who complain like all hell, but still buys it........

I added an edit, I will include it at the end of this.
