Bottom line here is that while any publisher can choose to ignore their customers when a fair percentage of that customer-base is upset by something tha said publisher has done, it's not very smart to do so. They apportion a lot of $ to marketing, promotion etc. This kind of controversy will be damaging them. They really do need to avoid ignoring us. This year is particularly abundant with competitors for a company like EME. They need goodwill and friends and contented customers. Awell thought-out statement would have great value to EME.
1. I highly doubt they are ignoring it. Not tailoring a special, warm-hearted response to every nyerking thread on the subject does =/= ignoring.

2. You don't know what portion of the play base is up in arms over it just because you read a bunch of forum topics. The people that don't care are actually playing the game and having fun while you're here whining.

3. Why do competitors matter here? Unless TERA's servers get shutdown why should you give a nyerk?

Hmmm, the theme park analogy was quite good. I agree with it thoroughly but with a different wording. You paid to enter the theme park, but you still have to pay extra for a souvenir. Its entirely optional if you buy this souvenir in a theme park just as it is in a video game. Just like most dlc for games. you dont need to buy it but you can if you so desire. And nobody can say they are paying for a subscription and that i should be included, because technically nobody has paid for a subscription yet at all. You paid for the game, if the devs want to release some dlc for the game then that is perfectly alright.

I think it's difficult when you compare physical good vs digital goods, the fact that the making of the sovenir is one cost, sure it cost money to make a skin but once made it's a simple oh this person can get it or not. While selling a sovenir cost every single time. I am pretty sure they could give out the skins and it would not cost anything, sure they would lost money from the "possible" buyers, but money would not be lost for the "distributing" factor. While for a physical good you have the "materials" that are use on it. Just my opinion

You mean like a statement by EME that, when it doesn't say *what you want to hear*, you're still going to rage about? That kind of well-thought out statement, right? Just checking.

Excuse me if I've missed any response, but I've been under the impression that all of us that are disgruntled about "Premium Items" would be addressed soon. Can you give us an ETA for this address please?

May I ask how you feel you need to be addressed?

A minority of you dont like the cash shop, whoopity doo the majority of us are very happy with it.

I have already CHOSEN to spend my first OPTIONAL dollars in the Vanity Shop. Notice the two capitalised words? CHOSEN and OPTIONAL..

If you dont like it dont use it. Why you precious little things feel you are owed an explanation is beyond me. EME is a business and they are certainly not accountable to us the users for how they design their business model.

Lets grab an example response to our complaints, shall we? This one should suffice nicely.

This topic is being debated from mmorpg sites to 4chan to the official forums to other forums. It is also a seminal moment in the future debate between what exactly is the difference between pay to play and free to play.

A minority of you dont like the cash shop, whoopity doo the majority of us are very happy with it.

Marginalization with an absence of evidence (and not evidence of absence).

I have already CHOSEN to spend my first OPTIONAL dollars in the Vanity Shop. Notice the two capitalised words? CHOSEN and OPTIONAL..

Irrelevant. Whether or not these things should be sold, the fact that one person has chosen to purchase them means nothing. If it did, children would be for sale; after all, someone has purchased one before.

If you dont like it dont use it.

Ignoring the topic.

Why you precious little things feel you are owed an explanation is beyond me.

Condescension.

EME is a business and they are certainly not accountable to us the users for how they design their business model.

False assumption/foolish premise. To claim that being a business makes them not accountable for their practices would, for instance, invalidate the whole of tort law.

Yeah, sure do love those 'logical responses' we get.

bottom line

there are some entitled little [filtered]es who are jelly of people who actually have jobs and money, and they would like to rage about other people buying vanity items that they cannot afford. its called being a hater, y u hatin?

there are a few people who would like to disguise their whining as legitimate concerns that this vanity shop will lead to a p2w cash shop later, but that argument is invalid since EME has stated it wont happen

so yeah, they arent gonna waste their time to come respond to a bunch of haters

This is pretty much my issue at this point. These discussions have already proven to be a pretty massive concern for a lot of people.

No response at all. Check for yourself:
