How are your feelings on EnMasse, right now?

Mchrome: I see where your coming from and agree on most points. However, I think one of these areas isn't thought out properly.

BOP: Eastern culture thrives around BOE and people grinding gold rather than playing the actual game. Making stuff BOP from certain bosses helps keep the content relevant for Western players, aswell as removing a pay2win element from the chronoscrolls. It also gives the social game more meaning, differentiating the people with the skill to beat the bosses who drop certain items, giving them an intangible amount of status BOE items can never get, aside from a 'nolife pricetag'. As a lot of stuff still remains BOE i don't see the issue around this. It's an example of how to get 'Westernization' right.

.

Boe gear creates incentive to do any content indefinitely. Endorsing a continually competitive environment.
I'm not sure why people feel that a mmo means force grouping. The idea should be to allow grouping to be fun but, leave the option to solo. Grouping with pugs equates to the wrong kind of difficulty.

Force grouping for content isn't making the game more difficult or rewarding, it's creating a game where larger guilds are the most successful, instead of the best guild being the most successful.

It may take more effort to get 40 players in your guild so you always have a group.
It takes more skill to trade or solo for it.

3 player guild with skilled players you enjoy playing with > 100 pugs you don't really know, allowing you to roll group content anytime.

I'll be honest: I see NOTHING wrong with the game encouraging you to find a guild.

Too many MMOs these days are too solo friendly. Really, why do these people play an MMO if all they want to do is solo?

I don't play purely to solo, I do enjoy playing with friends I can relate to but, they aren't always on.
I don't measure success by how many people I can make friends with or pug.
I don't like facebook for this same reason.

There is boe in korea atm. at end game.

BoE of a tier is only wanted, in majority, if it is the BoE gear of the best tier. So as soon as the current tier is over shadowed there is a significant drop in its demand to be purchased.

So that content becomes just like any other mmo, obsolete and only an inconvenient stepping stone to run or to buy at inflated prices.

I dig that, but the sad truth of MMOs is that, without a guild, the experience is just NEVER going to be as good as it could be. You're not getting the "full package", as it were.

I definitely like to solo sometimes myself (I plan to level many alts this way), but a lot of the issue comes from features and stable, reliable players being out of reach without a guild to play with.

Tera seems to be a fairly solo-friendly game (some classes can solo BAMs with relative ease) but again, MMO devs need to focus on group content because it takes groups longer to do things than it takes a lone player.

And yes, PUGs tend to suck. :(

Some people like sauce. Some people like noodles. Both groups want spaghetti.

The trick is the option to make your own plate.

I haven't thought about it like that just yet, interesting point. Still, making things BOE *does* mean that there's less reason for most people to actually visit the content, making everything BOE can even be harmful to the game if a group manages to obtain a monopoly on a certain resource/boss.

I agree the competition is welcome but it can go into another extreme. Personally i think there should be a healthy mix of boe and bop items - The latter even if just as a vanity item or trophy to show your skill, effectively making the content doubly relevant and desirable.

I'm overall happy with EME. There have been a few good changes and a few bad ones in my opinion. Even though they make me sad to see, I understand that you can't please everyone. I just hope they continue to make updates that encourages PVP and improves PVE encounters.

They seem to be more down to earth and communicate with the consumers very well.
