How do YOU manage aggro?

I've noticed that there's no way to tell you're high on the mob's hate list until you get the orange ring around your feet and the mob is running towards you.

As a healer, I know the aggro is not at all forgiving, so I try to use my heals sparingly. If I have to do more than two heals in a row, it's a 90% chance I'll pull hate. I'm still learning my limits on what does and does not pull away from the tank, but it's especially risky when folks are taking more damage than they should. I try to kite best I can when the mob hates me, and I go easy on heals until the mob is back on the tank.

From a tank's point of view, what do you do to manage aggro?

From a DPS point of view, what do you do to manage aggro?

Sorcerer... running... teleport jaunt... Glacial retreat :P

Can't really beat having lancers on your teams if you want to crank out more DPS... warrior and zerker stand-in tanks just don't cut it and sorcs most of all end up running and kiting as best they can in my random parties. lol

as a tank i smack them harder.

as a DPS i run and evade around the tank so he can pick it back up.

as a healer i run and evade around the tank so he can pick it back up.

hope that helps.

Use your auto attack frequently to drop your heals off the threat table. MoBs only remember a set number of actions on the threat table per player .. if all you do is heal then your threat table will be full of heals (Which mobs view as crits) and you'll pull aggro very quickly .. if you use auto attacks (Basic attacks) your threat table will have a couple of heals on it and alot of low damage crap attacks .. meaning the mobs will ignore you in favor of the tank who's really trying to irritate them.

Your Taunt, threat/rage generation abilites, gear usually helps with that.

If all else fails...run around in a circle and yell "Save me Tom Cruise...with your Witchcraft!"

You must be joking? i pull aggro from lancers all the time as a warrior. lancer allow for more DPS because they dont move the mobs around and with a war tank people have to pay attention to where there toon is to my mobs so half there skills dont miss cuz they are use to stationary targets. lack of dps with a war tank is partly do to dps being lazy and not keeping up with thier [filtered].

as for how i tank as a war to hold aggro is i find the max amount of dps i can do with my chain skills. Since wars only have a 30 second cooldown shout. they need to do as much damage as possible to make sure they gain all top threat.

As a zerker if i see the monster going after the healer or anyone I try to get a thunderstrike off on it to pull agro since i know i can tank/kite it long enough for the tank to regain agro or till someone else resurrects the healer or whoever else might be dead.

DPS View - I don't generally worry much about the aggro until the boss turns towards me, then dodge the attack (1-2s immunity while dodging as a slayer) and pop an aggro-decrease potion (Alchemy crafter). Then auto-attacks until the lancer pulls the aggro back.
