I failed an enchant and it cost me 600 gold

I have a lot of right to speak on this subject, because while this is my first MMO it's certainly not my first RPG, nor my first action based online RPG, and they all have the same core gameplay.

You level up. You play a harder area.

You level up more. You play a harder area.

You get to end level, and you either quit because you're done, or the game has some endgame content. In Tera that seems to be, you level up your gear and rep, you play a harder area.

And when you're done with everything the game has to offer, you wait til there's an update patch. Surely you did not expect every game to be infinite? Surely you don't expect to keep playing the same game for a decade?

Rinse/repeat for every RPG I've ever played.

And there's a bunch of instanced stuff with EVERYTHING that's in Tera, bar open world. It polays exactly the same! Only difference with Tera is it doesn't have mindnumbing point and click gameplay.

I lied anyway. I played Master of Epic for maybe an evening. I researched every other MMO and found they all had point and click, so I never touched another til Tera came out. Shame, because the people on Master of Epic were so unbelievably nice to me and my newbie character, standing in newbie area spamming "TASUKETE! NANIMO WAKARANAI MMO NARA KONNA YOU NA PUREISUTAIRU HA FUTSUU NANO?"

(help me I don't understand anything is it normal for MMOs to have this sort of playstyle?)

I hated it. :(

Please note my quotation marks around those words. Those words are subjective. I personally like grinding, especially when working towards a goal. I do however, recognize others do not. This is a conflict of opinion, but does not mean that the system is "bad" or "broken."

There are more like me, and there are more like you, this is a fact. Our opinions are different, and thus, like you, I have as much right to argue against a change as you have to argue for it. Yet no where in my post did I attack other posters, as you have me in your last paragraph. My question then becomes: "Who has the weaker arguement?"

You also never refuted that endurance is a skill. If endurance to grind is a skill this game requires, and a player is lacking in endurance... then are they not "unskilled" to a degree?

That being said, if it is your opinion that the game is "unplayable" in its current state, my question then becomes: "Who's forcing you?"

You're literally arguing that people should have to "endure" the fact that playing this game isn't fun. I hate to say it but do you realize how stupid that sounds? You should never have to endure playing a game.

I also hope that you realize endurance is the furthest thing from a skill. Endurance is merely a product of how much free time a person has and how much tolerance they have for something that is not enjoyable. People with obligations do not have the absurd amount of time that this game demands the player invest.

(Gah, auto-log out ate my post)

Two Things:

1.) I think you aren't understanding Endurance then. It is Stamina, and it is Focus. It is Patience too. A team with good Endurance will run content faster. They will not lose focus in a dungeon, they will be effiecient at all times, even when killing "trash." Long boss fights (in which someone usually slacks off unless there is a timer) will be shorter because they will use optimal rotations 100% of the time, instead of falling into a lazy rotation as their focus waivers.

Endurance, in a shooter for example, is remarkable. I have snuck across entire maps, stopping 5, 10, 20 seconds at a time to avoid detection (especially if there is a motion sensor) and wiped out entire teams. The journey was "boring" but the reward was well worth it.

Camping is much the same way, and requires incrediable endurance and patience. Do you think most people find sitting in one spot fun? Staring at your screen, remaining focussed even when no one is around? (I personally do, others, not so much.) However, as soon as someone steps into your trap, it's pay day.

Heck, I've even endured grenade barrages into my hiding spots. Friends finally figured out where I would hide, tossed grenades in to flush me out. Nope, by extreme patience and endurance, I could sit there as grenades took chunks out of my health, never moving till they decided I must not be hiding there. I mean, who would with grenades raining in? Well... the person with the shotgun waiting around the corner for you to run out of ammo, that's who.

Endurance, the ability to remain focused and keep moving (or staying still in some cases) even if the current task is (to some) "Boring" or "Tedious" is a skill.

2. If you find the game boring... who's making you play again?

((@Ipikki: Sound like a cool guy. Lemme know if you're on CH, maybe we'll do something.))

After I was done with Master of Epic I went onto the forums and cussed everyone out who defended it, and called them AKIBA KEI OTAKU.

Or something. That's how you play an MMO, right?

Would you play an RPG that gave you a game over and sent you back to your last game save every time you failed to upgrade your armor? Would you play an RPG where you "grind" just to do the same dungeon / part of the game over and over again because there is nothing else to do in the game?

Sorry. You don't. Just the fact that you compared single-player RPGs to TERA says more than enough.

Sure, if I enjoyed it.

I actually did grind up all my skills in DQ3 just to fight one super hard dragon at endgame. I then grinded up a bunch more classes and fought the same dragon til I defeated it on every class. Then I grinded all the gold coins you get just from hunting in areas, which don't reward you at all, you just have a bunch of gold coins.

I then joined Fanboys anonymous. Their 12 step program is great.

Who says you have to achieve everything so quickly? Why the rush? if you can't keep up with players like me then why stress about it? just because we have better gear than you doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game. +7 keeps you competitive and honestly that's not that difficult to get.

A tip for you.

A lot of people make static groups and run dungeons. They then pool the drops to one person so they can enchant their gear. This is done for each person in the party! it's called working together in an mmorpg.

Are you people seriously this dense? IT'S NOT ABOUT GETTING THE GEAR. IT'S THAT THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING IT IS NOT ENJOYABLE ON TOP OF THE RIDICULOUS TIME INVESTMENT THAT IS REQUIRED. Typed in caps for emphasis. Maybe you'll get it this time.

Running dungeons and farming is fun to me. I love the pvp that happens while out in the open world too. Sorry you don't find it fun.

that sounds insanely easy to me..
get mats/money together
save game
try to enchant? fail, game over
reload game, lost nothing at all
try to enchant? fail, game over
reload game, lost nothing at all
try to enchant, success! only took 1 set of mats/gold!

Doof doof, Phantasy Star Online, Phantasy Star Universe and Monster Hunter online, White Knight Chronicles, all clearly single player games. Sorry I spoke out of line.
