I love the enchanting system.

So having a look at the forums and looks like the [filtered]ing about enchanting has increased again...after they nerfed it since launch...

I must say that so many are arguing the fact of time = reward and that eme should remove the rng.

If so, then what if people started complaining about the rng in drops? "I spend all this time and run this instance 10 times and there is never any drops for my class, this rng is bull[filtered]"...yeh ok

this is how i see all you people complaning about the enchanting system. the rng is drops for MMO's has widely been accepted already

eme has already nerfed the [filtered] out of enchanting...

and I love the enchanting that they've nerfed it to

You won't love it when you start trying to upgrade past +9. That is when your success rate starts getting into the single digits.

Can't tell if you are trolling or not, but I definitely agree. After playing RO (definitely enduces lots of rage) for so long this enchant system is a god send. Easiest system I have ever seen, even if it is a money sink.

So your logic is, because we're dealing with one sh**ty RNG system already, dealing with a SECOND sh**ty RNG system shouldn't phase us?

Okay, try this exercise: take a hammer and break your left kneecap. Then, after taking a moment to absorb just how much pain you're in, proceed to break your RIGHT kneecap.

Now, are you in the exact same amount of pain, or are you in substantially MORE pain?

I find it funny how people rationalize this game's faults by saying "well in (x) game, blah blah blah...". Truth is many of us just don't want our progress to be determined by a slot machine.

"DURRRP WUT ABOUT DROPS? THEY'RE RNG DURRRRP"

Well ya know what, why not just make everything RNG? [filtered] it lets make combat RNG-dependent while we're at it because why should there be any balance between luck and hard work whatsoever?

why is Tera constantly being compared to a FTP game with a cash shop as though that helps validate whether or not the system belongs within the current model of the game

Then play something else? My goodness. I'm not justifying it. I'm saying it's fine to me, because there is definitely much more brutal enchanting systems than this one. They are constantly making this game easier and easier. The game is honestly easy enough as is. Took me 52 Kaprima runs to get a slumber jacket (2-3 weeks), didn't whine on the forums about it. Put a good 10k in my weapons rerolling and enchanting, didn't whine about it on the forums. It's just the way the game works. I would hate to see this game go to close to what I am assuming is WoWs enchanting system (never played) which I have heard is much more player friendly. The grind definitely keeps a lot of players focused on getting what they want. Easy enchanting and easy progressions will make people bored way too quickly, which will bring about more QQ for more rushed content.

RO was P2P for years. Just recently put out one f2p server and a cash shop about a year or two ago.

One of the biggest fallacies I've seen people make on this forum is assuming that because you complain about it means you don't like the game.

That's not why at all - if we didn't like the game, we'd just stop posting entirely. We make posts like this because we like the game, but we see areas where it falls short, and want to help improve it.

Having a passionate community isn't a bad thing. Unfortunately, with us getting so little feedback from the devs, I see a lot of people go from passionate to indifferent. And that's when they start deciding to leave the game.

Anyway, I'm fine with an enchanting grind, but I also think that making it less slot machine and more gradual improvement would be much better. Reposting from another thread:

Whenever you attempt an enchant, your item gains a certain amount of "enchanting EXP", say, 3d6 exp for using a gold item, less if you use lower quality items. When the item reaches a certain amount of enchanting EXP, it levels up and gets another +1. There's also a very small chance (around 1-2%) of a critical success, that instantly levels up the item no matter how much exp you have. The total enchanting EXP needed to level up the item increases as it gets to higher levels.

And that's it. It's still a random system, as you don't know how many more times you have to attempt to enchant before leveling up (especially if they don't tell you how much exp your item has), and you can get lucky and succeed in only a few attempts if you roll high, or you might have to do several attempts if you roll low, but you know you're ALWAYS working towards getting a success, and no matter how unlucky you are, you'll eventually get it high enough - it'll just be a bit longer grind.

Working as intended?
