Not that I'm particularly surprised, but it is pretty sad how quick some prigs are to take advantage of having rolled a highly in-demand class. When one person can so easily sour the gaming experience for 4 other people, it's never a good thing. I play a lancer myself, and I hear all kinds of horror stories ("Whoa! You attacked! You're already doing better than our last lancer!" "Pls dont kick need new ax!").
For what it's worth, I've:
1) Never kicked a first-timer from a dungeon, and always been willing to run the quest extras when asked. Even if ALL the party were first-timers. Instructions, warnings and hints were offered in advance, as best I knew.
2) Never kicked a Berzerker (Ran one instance with 3, actually. Hilarious, screen looked like a food processor at times).
3) Never kicked a dps who had trouble dodging.
4) Put up with 5-10 minutes of tanking while trying to see through weird wall/corner clipping, just so the dps had their requested wide open area behind the monsters back.
5) Always done my best to not only do the basic blocking and aggro, but also manage debuffing, stunning, boss positioning, add grabbing, and self-healing whenever possible. And glyphed and crystal'd accordingly.
6) Always passed on loot that I didn't really need, when a teammate could clearly benefit from it. Or if I'd already been getting especially lucky on the loot so far.
7) Complimented anyone who I happened to notice bring a serious A-game to a run.
8) Always been willing to wait at a campfire for a rezzed teammate to get back some stamina. Or if I was feeling rushed, and they were same-server, simply offered a stamina pot for free.
9) Apologized if a fight went bad because of my mistake.
10) Politely refused if I wasn't looking to party up when asked.
I try. And I run with lots of people who play the same way. Sadly, only takes a little oil to ruin a pond.
