Im not big on Class Warfare so let me give you some facts.
Soloing as a lancer is terrible. Its slow. Things take forever to die. You can easily help out lancers by inviting them to group with you while you are leveling. Then when you need a tank, low and behold you have some people to ask. Funny enough, Beserkers are really great at leveling.
Being a lancer pre-26 is not really a full fledged tank so to speak. You only have one real aggro skill (a shout) and you most lancers wont have all of their gear set up for instance tanking yet. So if your basing your judgments on a Bastion of Lok run then your right they are mostly going to sit there turtle and shout once in a while. Its the best way to generate threat.
A good group can make an average lancer good. And vice versa. The very first run I did in Bastion of Lok two people disconnected so we did it with only three people. The priest healer new which skills would generate lots of aggro and the warrior knew how to manage his health. We cleared the whole instance - no deaths. We even accidentally pulled the whole back room before the final boss (if you dont clear it they come). It was so much fun because everyone was forced to play their class to their best and work as a team. If you come in with the attitude that the instance should just be a zerg fest and blow all your big heals and big attacks your making it hard for everyone else.
Constructive criticism should be welcomed by people but you have to do it right. Most lancers dont have strats on all the instances yet. If you've done it before - step up and say so - especially if you see they are undergeared (i.e. the lowest level you can be or no blues).
