I've tried numerous times downloading this game to start my early character, but its not just working.

I uninstalled the BETA game. I run ccleaner to get rid of registries.
I pre-ordered and downloaded the game
I install said game to default location
I run said game, launcher shows up, QUICKLY downloads a 2-4MB patch. (Can't see it, very quick)
Launcher disappears and never comes back, and nothing else opens up.
I try and run the game for a 2nd time and now I get a permissions error.
If I run it a 3rd time, it asks me to locate the .exe file.
Even if I locate the .exe file and select it, it still won't run.

Now I'm screwed. Whats up with this ?

Well you didn't need to uninstall the BETA client. But that is here nor there. If you want a refund you either need to contact that company you bought the game off of, or EME support(if you bought it from them). They also may be able to help you get the client working.

If you still have the installer try installing it to a different folder.

I tried a new folder and a new harddrive (got 3 harddrives)

All comes up with the same problem

I did follow their FAQs for it too. Suggested to update windows and install some verisign .cer's so I did that as well.

I really wanted to play, but no luck yet.

Firewall or Region issue?

I live in Canada, NB
I disabled my AVG before installing.
I'm going to try windows firewall as well.. be right back.

Have you tried contacting their support and asking them for assistance in fixing the issue?

If you haven't, I suggest doing that before you cancel.

If that doesn't work out, then you can just contact EME support or your retailer to cancel, as Catatonic mentioned.

Try using common sense and open a ticket with support.

Try updating your video card drivers, if that doesn't work try swapping sticks of RAM... and finally,
as a last resort I would try reformatting your main hard drive, and I'm pretty certain that things will install fine. Since you have three hard drives it should be easy to back up your info, unless you are running in raid.
Trust me.. I had a similar problem, except the game crashed every time I loaded it up. My solution?.. I now have a new computer hehe. I rushed out to Fry's Electronics the other night and built a whole new computer, with SSD drives, Radeon 7970, the works... and the game runs fine in character creation mode, at 80 fps too (on full settings). Costly solution, but I needed it! (and I can sell my old computer to my office!)

I've tried opening a ticket, no replies yet.

I just tried a fresh install with all firewalls turned off and still, launcher opens and then disappears after that small patch.

I have no issue with any other game or installation. I'm going to hold back on a fresh reformat and ram. I tested ram with memtest and no errors.

I'll wait until they answer my ticket I guess

I think this issue is caused by people running the launcher just as it trys to update.

This is what you want to do to fix it.

1. Uninstall Tera through control panel
2. Run the setup.exe you downloaded from your accounts page
3. run Tera-Launcher.exe
4. Don't click on Tera-Launcher again for at least 1 minute after the Launcher closes (if you look at your Tera folder you will see the launcher disappear and the reappear)
5. OPTIONAL: Download the -1to8.rar file from https://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/267 and extract it to your tera file. This is the the files the patcher will download, but this will not be deleted if you get a checksum error so if your install bugs out again you won't need to download the 20gb again.



EDIT: Just remembered something. If its just the Tera-Launcher.exe missing running the setup.exe file will re add the launcher to your install folder (it will need to patch from launcher12 to launcher14 though).
