IP region blocked players

Hello,

First off let me say that I really like this game and have been waiting for some time now for the release of it in the states. So when EnM came around I was so pleased. That is up until last week when the IP blocking issue was released. I kind of heard my heart breaking. You see currently i am living in Japan for my job and am not due to return home to the states for another two years.

Now many of you may say, "Tera is already released in Japan. Just play it there." Now this is true. It is available here in Japan, but its all in Japanese. I understand much about the japanese language, but their is tons of Kanji in the text and I would never be able to follow 100% of what is happening in game. So I was very happy to get the game in english and play with my friends from the state in a NA guild.

So now thats not going to happen. On one hand i understand EnM's call on blocking IP's. I had my account hacked in WoW at one point and it sucked. Gold farmers where on every server and every major city. It was an unstoppable force.

Blocking IP's is maybe a good call, but honestly all its going to do is hurt honest players like myself. The hackers of the world will simply find a new way to break into the system, and do their thing. I give it six months before you see the farmers and hackers back at work. There has to be a better way to fight hackers then these blanket region blocks. I hope that something is found, but i doubt it.

I understand I will most likely get flamed by others because I am against IP blocking, but I am just as much a fan of this game as the rest of you and want to play it too.

Thanks for your time

I agree, I have always hated IP blocking. When I played FFXI I had made a ton of friends native to Japan, more so then english speaking friends, but the majority of MMO's released in Japan are region locked so experiencing another game with said friends is an impossibility. (Not mentioning proxies here.)

But on the other hand, one of the biggest issues in MMO's at the moment are third party currency suppliers, or gold farmers, and alot of these operate outside of the U.S. While IP blocking doesn't stop them completely it does indeed help the issue.

I doubt you will get flamed for simply stating your opinion, Tera's community is civilized and respectful, right? (Lowers eyebrows) Right?

I fully support IP blocking and I hope they don't lift it.

Right i didn't bring up the topic of Proxies, because I don't 100% understand it and seems kind of against the rules? Hmm Not sure about it.

I thought the idea of the chrono scrolls was a good idea. A step in the right direction to fight farmers.

I'm just very sad about this whole thing. I waited all this time and its so close to release and beta now, but suddenly have the rug pulled out from under me burns me up.

I feel for you dude. I am kinda torn on this one because I know there are legit players that are getting the short end here but, at the same time I feel like this will help with gold farmers...

I wouldn't be opposed to En Masse allowing anyone to play tbh. I do agree that chrono scrolls probably help a lot more than ip blocking.

I agree with the "idea" of IP blocking too, but there has to be a way for Honest people to play the game outside the US. I'm will to give them any and all info about myself to prove I am not a hacker. To show i am a US citizen in good standing with the law. I'm not asking for pass to play from anywhere in the world. I just wanna play from this IP address. And if anything happens against game rules from this address they can BAN me, but it won't.

I just wanna play. T.T

They promised over and over there would be no IP blocking. Whoever thinks IP blocking Russia and Asia will get rid of farmers is going to be sadly disappointed.

I'm pretty much in shock because for well over a year the same question came up about IP blocking and the response from enmasse was always the same, there would be no IP blocking. Now suddenly not only there is IP blocking but there is a massive IP blocking blanket. ALL Asia/Middle East/Africa/Russia... really ? Easier to just say you can only play from America Europe and Australia/NZ.

I guess serves us right for thinking EnMasse was different from NCSoft.

Be quiet, every little bit helps.

In before "EnMasse hates US soldiers defending our freedom abroad!". Tera could boost their morale pretty hard, if you know what i mean ;-)
