I'm out. Hate the combat system.

Its not like WoW or Rifts or SWToR...the left and right are essentially strafe. Think traditional tank all of the time and you use strafe more often.

I use a track ball mouse and its definitely more fluid and I think easier. It took about 2 hours for me to get comfortable to the system...its far more interesting than the above mentioned games and worth the effort.

I think the combay system is amazing, myself.. and the only real selling point of the game. Everything else is really MMO 101.

Pretty game, knew the combat was something I might not like when I tried it, as I really dislike console games and console-style fighting. I was willing to try it out, however, on the off chance that I might be surprised. But I really dislike the way the game limits my movement! It's herky-jerky---I need to click Mouse2 to move out of the way of a big attack? What? Why can't I just freely move out of the way on my own? Everything just feels...wrong.

And don't get me started on the quests or the grindfest that was fighting. I was bored before I'd even made it out of the newbie area.

I'm not going to trash talk the game more than what I've already said---I know tons of people like this sort of thing, and there's clearly a demand. And I'm not going to whine about the cash I just dropped for a game I won't play---I knew it was a gamble. Instead I'll just say: if you are enjoying Tera, great. Have fun.

I can honestly say, however, wow. I really, really hate the combat system. Shame. It's so pretty!

Just grinding and testing out my new skills until level 20 was enough for me before I actually started enjoying the game. Fighting your first BAMs and instance is fun. Most games are boring as hell during the first 1/3 since a mmo has to ease you into it. You may learn quickly but the game is trying to introduce you to every concept very gradually. It gets boring but once you understand how everything works and make it to level 20 you really start to branch out and do what you want. You can concentrate on crafting if that's your thing. For leveling you can do normal quests solo, instances or solo/group BAMs depending on what your preference is.

As far as you being able to move out of the way freely, you can. Whatever skill you have attached to your mouse button can be moved anywhere, plus you can dodge anything with the normal movement buttons. You are just using a skill that allows you to move fast. It is like having a little boost with a cooldown... no reason to hate on it.

I sorta miss the day's when games didn't have a forum.

Researching the game meant asking friends if it was good or not.

Forums kill games and posts like this one where a complete noob that has no idea about how Tera's game mechanics work deters potiential players for no reason other than the noob has zero idea about how tera is.

Welcome to Monster Hunter 3 Online with a faint korean twist. All the scary asian stuff has been nuked for your gratification and familiar tools such as LFD from WoW has been added for easier consumption.

Don't be bored out of your mind. Stay for awhile...using a game-pad has never been so easy before! You'll level up faster before you know it. Guaranteed :)

OP, so sorry for you. If you failed to use shooter-style movement system in TERA..then point-click MMO games are the only choice for you. So sorry. And farewell, don`t forget to shut the door. :P

I disagree. forums are the reason that key important issues get addressed quickly(especially bugs).
back in the day before forums it would takes months for bugs or even exploits to get adressed simply because the only way to report such things was by bug reports ingame which were rarely used as well as people not knowing how to use/ that it exist.
