I ask this because it's VERY rare for a hyped, new MMO to only launch with 11 servers and half of those servers almost always sitting on "low" population.
Did the game really not sell that well? I'm very interested in the game but as its only been out a month(almost), to see the game only have 11 servers(and only 2-3 of them are ever sitting on High at any given time), is the game already not doing too hot?
Most MMO's nowadays launch and have 30+ servers to meet the demands, but this game didn't even seem to have to MEET any demands. Is this bad news?
The servers are HUGE compared to other games lol. Definitely worth the buy.
Yes the servers are much much bigger the other recent MMOs ive played. After playing Swtor for awhile coming here and seeing the amount of people they can fit on one server without massive lag was fairly impressive.
I think most people are either playing Diablo III, or waiting for GW2. Tera is a stellar game though, I think it will only go up in player base. (Once they realize their tab-targeting is inferior :)
If its a matter of player base, then yes the game does seem lower than most. If its a matter of how good the game actually is, no question - amazing.
Wait TERA was hyped? Where?
Bear in mind that TERA launched with nary a whisper compared to other offerings like SWTOR and the hype juggernaut GW2.
It won't have the population of either of those games, but that's pretty much been accepted, common knowledge for at least the past year among most of us. It's not that the game didn't sell well -- it sold very well...for a niche game. And while most everyone would like to see that niche expand, it's also been pretty widely accepted that it was going to be a niche game to begin with, as there are simply too many people with kneejerk reactions about the Elin and games from Korea to ever be a serious threat to other, larger Western-made AAA offerings, regardless of how good the game was.
It's hard to beat the argument "I don't like it, I refuse to learn more about it, it's just bad!" followed by the equivalent of plugging one's ears and yelling LALALALALA. =)
The game is in no danger of shutting down, nor would it be even if a couple of the smaller servers were brought together. That's just the nature of smaller games.
Don't believe the hype; tera wasn't hyped :/
D3 can't be good considering its an activision game, and what good games has activision made?
I couldn't stand GW1 due to terrible pvp. I assume gw2 is bad for same reason :/ again pvp for d3...
Bottom line: All games are doomed, tera's got a lot of life in it yet.
