I get 40/5 (Up to 5x that with Turbo) Sub 10ms ping ~ 30ms to Cali (In florida) on my ISP
Range from 5MB/s ~ 20MB/s (Very few times when mass dowloading) & Still lag sometimes. This bieng said... my ISP is connected DIRECTLY To the Internet point in Tampa, rather routing via COs so much like other Isps in this area (Thus the speed)

Generally, if you are in the U.S., or anywhere for that matter your ideal ping you want to be 100 or less. Possibly up to 150...but that's really pushing it. At around 150 ping, you'll start seeing a lot of jerking I.E. "Rubber Banding".
As far as your bit rate/downstream from your ISP goes. I don't know what is globally considered "Default" but if I had to guess around 3mbs-6mbs, with a default up stream around a 1mbs.
That should be more than sufficient to play an online game. I have a *Correction:25mbs down stream, and a 3 mbs upstream with Comcast (forgot I downgraded). Which is flat out over kill as far as playing online games goes. You only need that if you are watching video from like Netflix, or other wise streaming, downloading, and uploading video. A picture, or in this case "video" is worth 1mbs!
Just regular connections like browsing the internet, or playing games 3-6mbs is just fine. Probably even lower than that, I'd say 1.5mbs is okay too, which is what I think the lowest for DSL is.
In a new game it is good to remember though, there is a lot of stuff the game servers are going to be going through. Especially in Open Beta. It is going to be stupid crazy the amount of people connecting to the server. It will most likely be very congested. Which will also reduce your ping. So it is not always your ISP or you. It could be the game servers too.

Any pings under 100 (from you to the game server) are good. Ping times from this site to you should be under 50 or you have some congestion in your area somewhere. I just checked, mine was 12ms now but I have seen it spike to 80 when Verizon's network was having problems.

lol oh well :P i'm at work on horrible internet as it is.
at my work we use the worse internet in canada (imo) and since everyone is going on how good their connection is....i figured i'd show them the connection to what i consider the worse internet around my area gets.
------ i consider this one of the worse companies for isp in ontario, and this is 14mbps connection.

Playing Tera with 2mbps, yes my ISP sucks but i am not having any lag/delay so more than happy. It's just a pain to download large files, i think it took me 2 days (without pause) to download Tera.
