Judging from all this....

Well I read into the forum posts, tbh I was gonna play TERA at release but decided not to due to FFXIV 2.0, however now I am thinking about quitting FFXIV and picking up that CE Box that was my preorder but has now been sitting in my local gamestop since TERA release.

Thing is I seen mixed reviews and opinions, from the perspective of players who have been max level for at least a month, what is your opinion of the game so far? I am the type that plays on a PVE server but likes to do PVP BGs, and work for end game gear. But dont take what I like to do into account of your current perception of the game.

Thanks to everyone who could help me come to a decision.

Bad news, your CE box was probably sold because they don't hold them for very long.

IMO... TERA is a good game. The foundation is there, the world, graphics, characters, etc. The combat is really fun and fresh too. Just not a whole lot of endgame content at the moment, and it's really fast to get to cap level.. so yea, bad combo there. But the game is still somewhat newly released. Eventually, like in all new MMOs, there'll be more to do in time.

The game is fun and the combat is refreshing. I believe definitely worth purchasing. playing through to max level is not to much of a grind, but very linear. You wont see innovative and engaging quests, the game relies heavily on the action style of combat. Which is a breath of fresh air if you haven't played a game with it before.

There is a learning curve built in the game. I honestly thought the game PVE was boringly easy for the first 50 levels on my first character ( warrior) but it gets progressively harder and in the end does offer some challenges, like soloing BAMS. On the other hand it is easy enough that you can get by is some places without using traditional roles, just need some good dodging skills and a decent healer. Or a good block and patience.

I think the art and scenery in the game are fantastic. However the game is plagued with invisible walls and little reason to explore outside where the quests take you. There is an egg hunt event that helps alleviate this though.

Its worth buying and playing for a month or two in my opinion. By that time you will have enough experience with the game to know if you like it. In other words I recommend buying it. You will have fun and know for yourself if you are willing to stay by the time the monthly renewal fee comes up.

I wouldn't judge the game from the forum posts. People come here to complain, not to praise.

I was playing FFXIV, and jumped into Tera since FFXIV was pretty boring. I have highly enjoyed Tera so far. The combat is great fun (which is good because you will be grinding out levels.) Each class feels different to me.

The graphics are nice. There have been a few areas that have been awesome looking. I really enjoy the monster design as well.

The downside: you will be doing the same dungeons over and over for endgame. Daily quests to get certain gear are a bit of a drain.

Many complain about the crafting system, however, it is not complicated...just invested. It's not as simple as get 5 of something and craft it up. It is a bit of a pain, yes. Is it do-able? Definitely.

My advice: Try the 7 day demo and see how your initial reactions are to the game. Play a few jobs, and find out what you like best.

^ hate it when people talk like the crafting system was meant to be super hard. EmE just broke NA-Tera's crafting. K-Tera crafting IS as simple as get 5 of something and craft it up, to rank up, through crafting quests.

Crafting is being fixed verrrry slowly tho, but they should just put the quests back in since they didn't have anything better for the system on their removal.

If you are a PvP'er, you are going to hate the current system come QoA Pt 2 if it isn't fixed by then. Just sayin.

I think the real question is how in the hell you managed to stay hooked on that world renowned piece of garbage for so long when it was arguably the worst mmorpg in existence for about a whole year after it released (they didn't even induce their subscription fee until then it was so bad).
