Did the first area.
All fine. Although I RARELY saw anyone...which took away the feeling I first had when I played earlier mmo's where even the beginning areas were full of people making friends and connections etc.

Came to Velika (or whatever its called). And started the first Lumbertown quests.
Again, saw nobody whilst questing.

Now I decided to go quest somewhere else. >>>>>Ganked.
....I take forever healing up to go quest again>>>>>>>>Ganked.

Okok, I DO play on a PvP server, I accept that. But it' ridiculous that I cant even quest now for 2 minutes without getting smashed.

And I do play the game alone, I don't have any friends that were willing to start with me, and everyone I meet ingame is already a higher lvl (im lvl16) and have no interest in assisting. Nor do I feel as though I should put somebody ELSE out by relying on them for help.

The mere fact that this game is new'ish, and I already spent my first 16 lvls seeing a FEW players makes me feel like it's not going too well...
And when I finally meet someone...It's usually a pair or trio out to kill me.

See if you can find a leveling partner. Also, have you joined a guild?

And yeah, sadly, while I have seen many in the startingareas, it does seem to be a sort of solo rise in levels without someone dedicated to level with you.

1-20 range usually has quite a bit of people questing those zone, it drops a bit in the mid range till about 40ish you'll start seeing more again, and then drops again till you get to pathfinder post area and level 60 areas.

Also the majority quest in channel 1, so you'll also find the most gankers there.

You should definitely think about joining a decent sized guild (if you're not already), and get some friends to quest with makings it 100x more fun, and solo gankers (of similar level) avoid groups mostly.

Most people will look for groups when BAMs and Dungeons are involved.

The other quests that can be soloed; You will not find groups for. They are done so quickly that trying to find folks who are in the same quest progression as you are is rare.

Though you might have luck when questing in open world dungeons such as the Mines, Labyrinth, Pirate Grotto and so on.

Once you get out of arcadia (the province lumbertown is in) getting ganked while leveling/questing drops drastically, to the point of almost never happening. It's just a matter of jerkoffs getting their e-peen on by one shotting lowbies.

Honestly, I just started lvling an alt and OP is right. This game is empty as [filtered]. I ended up skipping almost every BAM quest because there was just nobody doing them and everywhere I went after lumbertown and cresentia I was lucky to run into any other players at all let alone groups. I was forced to move my alt to VoT just to increase my odds of finding groups for ANYTHING.

^ QFT. I think placing "recommended" beside low pop servers is kind of misleading for newer players to the game since you're pretty much just ending up on a desolate server with very few people ever out and about. Not exactly "recommended" for an MMO.

Scrap your lowbie PVP server toon.

Roll on a high pop PVE realm.

Entirely different game.

Every alt I've leveled there's plenty of random people around. No, not as much as a game like WoW which has a comparatively massive playerbase but enough to make things not feel depressingly empty.

There's not even real PVP implemented yet, no clue why so many people are worried about it when it's not balanced, and not structured, in a manner conducive of maintaining a healthy PVP community.

Placing "Recommended" next to a server does two things:

1) Tells MMO vets to stay the eff away from this server.
2) Totally effs newbies in the a, royally.

It's totally counterproductive, especially since they offer free realm transfers... like, if someone wanted to move low-pop, they'd go do it. Why deceive people? It's your "Recommendation", and your recommendation of a low pop server is a reflection of your logistical considerations not an attempt to actually help anyone (unless you make the argument that it helps people on overpopulated realms by steering people aware from them which is a really weak argument).

Anyway, long story short, QFT, the "Recommended" tag is about as dumb as standardfare MMO bad decisions by companies running them gets. lol lets recommend a server that will most likely result in the worst first impression possible.

My experience in a nutshell. And yes, I was one of those newbies XO
