Less loot from instances with characters to high of a level?

Didn't see a specific PvE forum, so I'm asking it here.

Just for clarification, can anyone confirm that you get less loot from an instance if you bring someone who is higher than the expected level? If so is there a specific formula for it?

As in: The more people higher than the expected level the less loot? Having even just one makes the boss yield less loot?

If you cannot use matchmaking [too high lvl], you should not be in there [horrible drops]

Yes if you're more than 5 levels above the drop rate is lowered and experience rate nerfed for everyone in your party, even the lower levels. So level 32s get loot in SM but a lot less. Like the above poster said, if you can't queue in matchmaking, your too high level.

But why? If someone wants to run [insert name of random low-level dungeon here] when they outlevel it - perhaps to get a pretty outfit or whathaveyou - then they have every right to be there. I don't understand why the drop rates have to be nerfed.

Apparently they want you to use the LFG tool or get your own group together in the rigth level requirements.

Thanks to the level difference modifiers in this game, 5 levels is actually a pretty significant amount. For all intents and purposes, you're overpowered and have an unfair advantage.

Point in case - my lvl32 Lancer can solo Bastion of Lok with very little difficulty (lvl22 dungeon). I do it in 4 fights - 1) every mob combined up to the first boss, 2) mid-boss, 3) Every mob combined up to the final boss, 4) the final boss. The level difference IS that significant.

It happens because people will just cap a toon in crap gear then use that toon to easy mode the instance and get all the gear for an alt toon which will now be twinked to hell and back. They wish to prevent this. Also its to some what prevent power lvling.

Although the games current cap is only 32 which is very low so plvling isn't extremely possible yet.

An unfair advantage in... what?

Running an instance to try to get a cosmetic item? o.0

No, running an instance to get gear that's valuable to other people. And if you're overlevelled, you've clearly had quite a few chances to get one already

Or you didn't run it in the first place...

The loot paradigm in this game is very strange for me. Is it because the loot is... BoE? I come from games where running friends through low-level dungeons, going back to old content for shiny gear, and generally being able to enjoy the whole of the game even when you've out-leveled it is par for the course.
