Dying is when the specific individual claiming it no longer enjoys the game, thus it should now be deemed dead by humanity as a whole. Obviously.

oh god... there was a phrase for that my professor used yesterday. damnnit! what was it?!!! D:<

it means something, like... an opinion or fact without probable cause justifies the absolute means for something else. Its a latin phrase, thats all I remember lol

Yet another useless thread based off the speculation off a single person who felt so paranoid that he felt the need to make a post about it on a forum.

He is right though.

The MMO market is tough. Yes this game WILL succeed and do very well....

What about long term, 1-3 years down the road?

I agree with what some of you have been saying, I'd rather have a small/medium close community than a big community with a bunch of whiners, you don't need to have the subscriber base of WoW to be successful. This game is perfect and I will be playing it for years to come. If you do not want to play fine, but I ask that you respect those that do enjoy the game and leave us to our enjoyment.

We don't need to know (and 99.9% of us don't care) Why you don't like the game, if you don't like it quit, that's all there is to it.

To my brothers and sisters that will join me in Tera, let's have some fun shall we?

@Alucadra

That's exactly the point. You are considering Rift a failure, and yet the game's still going. Recently had its first anniversary. I have no idea what actual subscriber population rift has, but it's probably insignificant compared to WoW.

To backup his points, Rift is very profitable for Trion and has seen consistent month over month growth, including the month SWTOR was released.

Since they are not new releases many MMO's may not get as much attention, but there are often significant player bases in many of these games that people consider 'failures'.

The problem is that there are now many MMO's. When WOW came out there were very few other options. It was possible for one player to come in and dominate the market. That will never happen again. The potential market for MMO's is split across too many games. So player base really isn't an important measure of game success.

MMO's can only be judged on these points:

1. Is it profitable for the company that runs the game (otherwise it will close down and you will loose your time investment).

2. Is it fun for you and your friends enough to justify paying for (regardless of payment mechanism; ads, micro, subs, etc...).

3. Is there something that would be a better fit for you and your friends (gameplay more to your tastes, payment system you find more acceptable, etc...)

I think it will succeed. Coming from Aion/Rift I have to say that Tera is much more enjoyable to play and even longer grinds don't get boring. I even go as far as saying that Tera is going to be better then GW2 (my opinion from what I can gather from the media, videos, etc.)
I played through 3 Tera betas, then for fun and because it turned free to play, I logged into my AIon account. Spent about 10 minutes in there only to realize that I miss the combat mechanics of Tera. Asides from the awesome graphics... :D
The advantage of some other MMO's is that they are free to play. I rather pay because that way I know what I am going to pay. 'Free' to play always got more expensive for some reason...

Love the game (Tera) and have to say that I never spent so much time in any MMO then in the last 3 beta's...
