Looking for like-minded casual players :)

Hello,
A few of us Tera players recently got together, after learning that we have very similar interest and passion in how we want to play Tera. We are now reaching out to the community and hoping to form a small group/guild/community with like-minded players to explore the world of Tera together. If you are someone who share the same casual approach and is interested in meeting more players just like you, please reply here so we know you are out there! :D

So what is it about our approach that may be different from the typical casual playerbase?

Our focus will be more on creating a sense of adventure with a small group of players at a moderate pace, rather than the emphasis on level grinding and reaching end-game and acquiring best gears ASAP. We like to immerse ourselves into the world of Tera, for example spending time exploring the world and enjoy the wonderful landscapes and sceneries that the game has to offer.

While we do not do the typical role-playing (RP), we do appreciate some elements of RP, such as staying “in character” more often than not, and pay more attention to the in-game surroundings to appreciate all the work that has put into this game - ranging from interesting lore to fascinating environment design.

More background information about our casual approach can be found here:
http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/roleplay/topics/Am-I-a-good-fit-for-RP-community

Additional details about the group and our approach:
We prefer:
- People to be friendly, laid back and positive
- People who don’t take the game seriously
- People who are less competitive in-game
- Focus and enjoy the ride itself, rather than the destination
- Do things together as a group; party play over solo play
- Helping out each other over individual accomplishment
- Play it slow rather than grinding non-stop
- Stick with in-game chat (online chat usually kills the immersion for us)

If you are still interested after reading through all these, please reply and/or PM me with the following information:
1. Your time zone
2. Your typical play time (estimates will do)
3. What is it about our approach that resonate how you want to play Tera.. maybe a story about your previous MMO experience, etc.

Thanks for your time! :)

All of those essentially describe my game-play style in a nutshell. I often times log in enough hours that I could easily fit under the 'hardcore' tag, but I never strive too hard to be uber or l33t or however else one might label someone that takes the game far too seriously.

I'm definitely not one of those people that rushes to max level, and can never truly understand the mentality of those that claim the game starts at level cap. I've sat just mere levels away from cap in games before, while people that were half my level previously, ended up passing me. I tend to spend a lot of my time running around, trying to find new locations to explore, helping others if they need something, getting into trouble (I've learned to never poke a dragon that's 200x large than me), etc.

As for playing it slow, I'll be one of those that will read through, and complete every quest I can possibly find on my way to cap. EME put a lot of effort into translating the quest text, and the fact that there are over 1000 of them makes it seem like a waste to just pass them up. I got a good laugh at a few of them this past beta, with some of the references they had.

I don't really fancy role playing, or at least I've never really tried it. Just never seemed like it'd be my cup of tea. Chatting through in-game means is fine, but I was hoping TERA would be my chance to venture away from my safe, introverted way, and actually try to overcome some of my shyness problems.

I'll keep my eye on this (somehow.. really need a following thread option), and see if it's something I'd join come launch. Any clue as to what type of server you'd be looking towards mostly? I'd assume PvE due to the more laid back approach to the game, where as PvP is more of a leveling and arms race. I'm still leaning towards PvP as my main server unless they implement a decent GvG feature into PvE, then I'll probably end up on one of those since I don't have quite the free time I used to to put into leveling and gearing a character.

Thanks for the reply GenName!

To address your question: yes i envision the group to be in PvE. Doesn't mean that we oppose all aspects of PvP (friendly duels can certainly be part of the group activities), just that to your point the type of personality we are looking for, PvP server probably wont be the best fit

The vast majority of what you mentioned as typical goals coincide nicely with mine, the main exception being the whole group-based thing. Not that I dislike group play, but that my past experiences with it have been somewhat...frustrating. Typically I get left behind the first time I log off and never see anyone again. Still, I'm willing to give it a try. It -has- to work -sometime-, right?

I don't know how much or little into online RP I am. I've done tabletop RP for years upon years upon even more years though, so I at least know pretty well how it works.

While I like some pvp, so long as people think 10 on 1 qualifies as pvp I'll be rolling on pve servers so that fits nicely also.

You could say I'm interested, but...is this posted in the right section? =)

It's sort of a tweener zone. Like... the OP likes RP, but doesn't come off as wanting to always be serious RP. It's more like... playing normally, just always speaking in character and nothing deeper than that.

After a series of pvp game like Aion, Rift, SWTOR i'm quite tired of self alert 24/7 in open world (unless i'm stay in cities and queue uo warzones all day long). So i decide to take abreak from pvp and take it easy with PvE.

@Calypso, don't worry about getting left behind because after lv20+ Tera more fun with group party than solo...most likely ppls will solo thier own in starter island then might party up at Lumbertown.

I'd say it's in the right section since Yumie is doing more of a general search for similar people, and not really recruitment for any specific guild or group yet. PvP servers, during the last test, weren't too bad with the ganking and such, aside from the few guilds running around doing mass wipes after capping. But, hey, zerging requires skill, right?

I'm waiting for some sort of announcement regarding PvE server GvG. I'd like some for of open world PvP at the very least, since duels and group battles will typically be in the same types of locations all the time, and fighting in the beautiful scenery of TERA, among all the enemies is always tons of fun. Also a good laugh to see a ganker get rolled by the BAM their target is fighting because they're only paying attention to the player, not the mobs.

Another question towards Yumie - Would this group possibly consider some sort of voice chat communication for misc uses at all? I'm not too fond of guilds that absolutely require the use of vent/teamspeak/mumble. Not everyone feels like talking all the time, but being able to have the option to, or even just listen to other guild members and type to them in game as responses is nice.

Oh, good, that's a relief. I did up to level 18 on some of my characters solo, but never made it far enough to see that grouping was going to be necessary or anything. I hate that feeling of thinking I've made a new group of friends, log off, then come back the next day and they're all 6 levels higher and won't even bother answering you in chat anymore. Too many times I've had that happen, it's very nearly burned me out on the concept of grouping, so I'd be really pleased to see any change in that department. =)

@GenName -- Yah, good point/call. I noticed there wasn't a specific guild or anything mentioned, yet it comes across like a recruiting method somewhat. I was confuzzled! =P

I think that problem stems a lot from game developers making leveling far too easy and quick. Look at the second closed beta we just went through. By the time I got home from work at 6pm PST (6 hours after servers went live), there were tons of players already 25+ on PvP servers. Imagine if I wanted to play with a group of people, but wasn't able to start at exactly the same time. I'd be playing catch up until probably 45+, possibly even later depending on how the exp curves out in the second half of the game. In that respect, I'll most likely end up soloing or randomly partying with people I run into along the way.

Creating a guild of people that aren't completely focused on leveling to the max, and enjoy taking their time might remedy that problem. Especially if the group were to be fairly decent in size. It'd mean people to play with almost always, and during the times there aren't, there's always LFG and such. But that's pretty much the definition of a guild: group of like-minded players that enjoy grouping together.

My best experiences have been in small guilds where everyone knew each other and always played through content together. I've been in larger guilds before, and they're just way too serious for my liking.

I'm usually go back to low lvl contents for guildies and help them burn throught all the quests.
I'm even create 2 characters (1 for static gruop and 1 for solo when other members not online to avoid lvl gap). Since this post not about guild recuitment so I don't know how we get together and poosible try out next beta lol
