OK.. so I have watched every video out there and read so many things. My problem here is. If I knew for sure hands-on it was decent and even only a little fun to play, I would pre-order. I feel the beta should have been a tool to get people to purchase. Perhaps, open beta to public and then after a little hands-on I would purchase. But the way it is now.. u purchase then get beta.
So, any crazy honest gamers out there wanna give me a heads up on how amazing it is? If its great. Ill more than likely get collectors edition.. saw they had a few at my gamestop still
Play OBT, then proceed to pre-order if you enjoy the game :)
it brings back memories of before when mmos were commercialized. that alone should make you want to play it.
For some reason, I don't think the OP realizes that Open Beta is on Friday and runs through Sunday evening. No purchase of anything needed. Just... sign up.
Making a decision based off of other's opinions is one of the worst ways to come to a conclusion. It's an MMO, so don't expect anything revolutionary (you'd be amazed at the expectations people have around here). It's the typical kill monsters, level up, deck character out in epic gear, conquer dungeons, dominate battlefields, etc. The content can be as easy or hard as one would like it to be, depending on that player's skill. Though, general PvE of just regular questing isn't exactly challenging as you'll never find yourself in too much danger unless you challenge a world boss or BAM solo.
All that being said, the gameplay is a nice change of pace compared to most other online games out there at the moment. Instead of depending on stats and RNG to make decisions of whether or not a player gets hit, and for how much, the player is actually in control of it for the most part (can't do much about a skill on cooldown).
Open beta is free to join and play, so you can get your first taste by then. I'm not sure how long collector edition pre-orders will be available for, but if you've been hesitant this long as to whether or not you really want one, chances are you'd be fine with just the regular edition, otherwise you would have jumped at the opportunity already.
Most people here are here because they like the game... if you can look past a lot of the constant whining and complaining about each and every feature in the game (seriously, why are those people here if they don't like anything about the game?), so they'll all most likely tell you how fun it is, and it'll be a pretty one-sided promotion for the game.
