I mean this in the nicest possible way and am in no way trying to be [filtered] or troll your thread, but my opinion about your opinion is simple.

If you want to take the RPG elements out of an MMORPG go play and FPS / TPS.

You do make some good points in your post that would be great for another game, but in the end you are trying to make the game into something that it is not and was never meant to be in the first place.


Tera has been largely advertised as the first truly player skill based game. En Masse has literally said finally a game where gear does not matte rand skill is more important. The OP is absolutely right and there are many articles popping up all over the place about how little this game actually has to do with player skill. They created a revolutionary idea, and then strapped a crap ton of ancient failed concepts that will only work in korea to it. If you believe this is the way MMO's have to be you must have extremely limited experience with MMO's.

People like gear-based MMOs better than purely skill-based MMOs. Lots of people are happy with the way TERA is. That's why TERA is the way it is.

Gear Grind and RNG enchanting should not decide the victor in PvP.

Period.

MMA matches are not won because one fighter has a +12 unarmed skill enchantment on his pants.

TERA has so much more potential than the devs think it does...Take the damn risk and be as PURELY SKILL BASED as you possibly can.

TERA is truely an action combat game, however, DCUO relies more on player skill. It's quite common in that game for skilled players to defeat people twice or three times their levels. Not so much in TERA. But everyone is obsessed with akward and irony right now, I hate crazy people.

This game can never truly be skills based (in PVP at least) with the way Gear is in this game is and the way the crappy RNG Enchanting system works.



It is pretty damn easy to lvl in this game so lvl difference is really a minute problem and will be non-existent when everyone is Max lvl.


You want this? I hear vindictus calling.

The point of an MMO is to grind for gear and use that gear for PvP.

Seriously if you want to play a competitive game where everyone is on equal footing play a Starcraft, Counterstrike, Street FIghter, or whatever because in all those games everyone's gear is the same. That being said you'll still get your buttkicked if you don't devote tons of time to playing the game.

Anyone have anything else to add to the discussion after the Open beta?

May 1st is right around the Corner, no one will be able to play again till Headstart / Launch.

En Masse has taken a lot of steps in the right direction so far but unfortunately everything I stated in this thread is still true of the game, they made the enchanting system less frustrating but it still sucks.

So much for Tera's "Skill Based Combat". *Shrug*
