You know, for all the complaining I (and others) have done about EME, I must say, they are a pretty good company. Their profits must be through the roof thanks to some of the tactics they did, and covered up.

For instance, removed crafting quests. There seems to be no reason why they removed them, right? Wrong. They removed them so that anybody who wanted to craft would have to spend weeks on it, and if they run out of time, extend their subscription. When they realized the cost was too steep, they didn't make the mat requirements more reasonable - they made the crafting quicker to level.

Enchanting. 90% of your time on this game will be spent farming enchant fodder/gold. Why should they lower that by guaranteeing enchantments or making it easier? People still are spending lots of time failing enchants.

Chronoscrolls. These were ingenious. Hold them off until 3 days before the first default subscription length ends so there is a mad dash to get them. They get their subscription money en masse. They don't care what the price is. As long as people want them, sell them.

Cash shop. Pretty self explanatory. Trust me, there'll be more added to the cash shop before anything (like the resetting Red Kumas) gets fixed.

EME is a company, and their primary goal is not customer satisfaction. It is to make money in any way possible. So we probably should stop hoping for the fixes that are required to make this game fun, and instead be looking forward to the next flaming horse available in the cash shop for 1/2 the cost of the game.

This is why I don't like seeing Cash Shop in P2P game. When a lot of people start buying, and they are making tons of money from it. They will get greedy and start making more cash shop item instead of fixing thing and adding in contents.

This is why I leave Perfect World game, I wait and wait for update and fix. But every week I check back more Cash Shop item get added.

As much as I hate F2P game, people are making it easier for them to switch to F2P game when they finally started adding in Pay to win items. Free to play may not be far for Tera if they continue to keep running business like this.

first off.. there is no item that actualy modifies your stats in any way on the cash shop. The mount has the same speed as the lvl 60 one so its just that mount earlier. Also, if you are in a guild that is a vanarchy then you have a mount that is 10 speed faster at lvl 1 making that a moot point.

As long as it stays off the wall cosmetic stuff who cares, its only visual does not change the game in any ways.. so it is not "Pay to Win".

Yeah the crafting changes were stupid, why they did it I have no idea. However I don't think it was a ploy to get you to pay for more subscription time. This is a Persistant Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. That means you are supposed to play with other people. If crafting is done as a guild activity, you know playign wth other people like you are supposed to in an MMO crafting is pretty simple.

Chronoscrolls, I like these.. alot. There is nothing wrong with them. A subcription for 30 days is $14.99, a chronoscroll that gives 30 days is $14.99. So, yes you can buy a chronoscroll and sell it to someone in game for ingame gold, but its still just 1 subscription that only 1 person paid real money for. they are not making extra money, because who ever buys the scroll ingame is not paying a dime to Enmasse.

I usually ignore most of your post but this was brought to my attention, and well, I believe you have a jaded view of everything about MMO's.

You do realize that successful business is perpetuated by a solid customer base that is loyal to your brand don't you?

I'll never look at another EME game as long as I have a heartbeat.

This company has screwed it self so far in the proverbial cyber anus, it'll never walk right again.

But hey, they have great grammar and quest text.

Sadly, yes. I'm still waiting for those developers that are making games because that's what they love to do, a company who's first priority to to make a great game. In art and entertainment money should never be the primary/only goal. The business aspect should be kept to a minimum. Otherwise the art is poisoned by a bunch of greedy pigs looking to exploit it as a get rich quick scheme.

In what sort of world do you live? That will never happen for very simple reasons:

1) The developers and any and all employee's working on this game need to earn a wage to support themselves and their families.
2) An MMORPG is costly in maintaining. Servers, bandwith and so on and so forth
3) Profit will be put toward developing new content, or to work on new games for people.
4) Advertising

Those are just four, if you actually bother to educate yourself about where profits go you would find many more reasons.

Do you people think the entire profit they make goes toward Mai Tai's and their own private islands? Wow.

I don't hate EME, but I login to see if this game will ever be worth the sub fee. Their are too many things wrong with this game for me to throw any more money at it.

Well, you have to balance between making money and making the game fun. Lose one, and the other will be lost. Gaming companies are inspired by both motives, but one is always primary, as in the goal. Both are mandatory to survive; but a company will either follow its passion or its wallet. At least how EnMasse and BHS have expressed themselves, it seems their primary goal is to make a good game. Now part of being good is making funds to survive. But it is not like Activision's CEO who states he wants to take all the fun out of making video games. Kill fun, you kill creativity, and thus what makes games great. The whole environment you plunge yourself in TERA denies that type of rejection of imagination. It is a game starting off, trying to imitate games that are well established with their business models, but give it time, and the business model EnMasse is taking will make sense (as far as the vanity shop and chronoscrolls go).

As far as the grindy feel, some of it will be fixed with QoA Part 2. It takes time to see what is reasonable, but you can't expect crafting/enchanting to be easily maxed, especially enchanting. Think of enchanting to +12 as TERA's version of WoW's legendary items. It should be very rare to find people with +12. In addition, having a legendary drop in WoW would be just as difficult as having an item properly enchant to +12, assuming you can even get to the point in the WoW raid in which the item drops and then roll to win. In comparison to other games,TERA's grind really isn't that bad. It would be worse if EnMasse just gave you everything, giving no real sense of accomplishment/luck. Granted, gold is central right now in getting the best items; but I'm sure we will see a greater focus on doing dungeons/raids/PVP as the content in those areas develop. It would be nice, for instance, if BoP items were given for doing PVE/PVP content that improved the chances of enchanting over what you can buy off the broker (or perhaps a guaranteed enchant if the drop itself were a rare BoP or from the hardest boss in the raid). It would also be nice if the best gear dropped from raids and not be something that is either BoE or craftable.
