Ok, so like I am going to tell a story here about my adventures with the checksum error.

Thursday, April 12th 10:00pm: Time to start downloading the patch ... YAY! Character creation is tomorrow!

Friday, April 13th 6:30am: Oh look at that, patch is almost done downloading. Sweet. Time to head to work.

12:30pm: Checksum Error? What the heck. So I restart the launcher. Downloading another patch? Looks in Tera folder O.O ... WHAT!

12:45pm: Checks forums, finds others having the issue. Not sure how to fix with out re-downloading whole client.

1:00pm: Starts downloading manual patch on the site

11:00pm: Checksum error, *sighs* So much for character creation.

Saturday, April 14th 10:30am: Let me back up my client folder and then re-install Tera.

11:00am: O.o It's trying to download the 1to8 patch? wtf? Crap, I screwed up!

3 hours go by

2:00pm: Oh look at that the zip file in the 7to8 patch has a game.version file. Extract. Crap the stupid file will not extract.

3 hours go by again

5:00pm: Talk with support, they will let me know if they find a solution.

6:00pm: Downloads different unzip program. It extracted! Launcher doesn't patch, but the paly button is active. The game start, I get to server screen, and click create a character. Game crashes.

7:00pm: I figured out I can extract the entire patch and manually patch the game.

8:00pm: tera.exe can not run on 64-bit windows. Seriously?

9:00pm Try getting the older tera.exe back. Back up my client folder, uninstall, re-install. Copy tera.exe to backup, then copied backup back to tera folder.

10:00pm: Click play .. nothing happends. I look into Tera folder and realize o.o the backup I made never copied all the files and was only 10GB. NOOOOO!

10:30pm: Downloading recovery software. Recovers folders. Seems some files are not able to be recovered. I use the launcher to hit repair. Tries downloading 1to8 -.-/

11:00pm: I give up! ROAR!!!! Downloads a download manager and start downloading the 1to8 patch.

Sunday April 15th 1:30pm: 36.06% complete

how about next time you start downloading the day after CBT5... I had this same issue, and it has nothing to do with friday the 13th, it's that you choose to not be more attentive. MY patcher was going and restarting itself for like 2 days, so then on Wednesday i finally decided to uninstall fully, and then re-install, and it worked perfectly that time. Then i was all set and ready for char creation. A little planning ahead and awareness goes a long way.

Sorry you had so many problems, i know the 4gig patch came out last week, a lot of people waited for the last min to download it along with signing in to make a toon probably bogged out the server. I don't no why it said it can't run on 64-bit because it can that was weird. I hope you did get it all worked out tho and ready to play this upcoming week :). It could of been the Friday the 13th thing bwahahahahahaha.

The issue with that is ... my net connection downloads at 150KB/s, so ya .. I am hesitant when it comes to downloading large files. As for downloading earlier? Still wouldn't have solved my problem. Would have had to download the whole game either way.

So not sure what your getting at here. The whole point was trying to fix it so I didn't have to download the whole game again at 150KB/s.

Funny thing is ... I really am not mad about this XD ... more like a comedy.

i am hesitant about downloading large files so i wait as long as possible so it will be as inconvenient as possible.

you should get better net if you want to game online, especially with TERA, do you want to see what bad latency can do to TERA?
