I just submitted this through the support section.
Feel free to add your concerns.

Dear En masse

I've given myself some time to cool down as I was very upset with the recent patch notes. Now that I've cooled my head a bit I would like to give feed back on them.

The very things that draw me to Tera are in fact the things that differentiate it from western games such as World of Warcraft and rift.

I believe you removed some very useful tools that the players could use in light of possibly tweaking them. I will address these now:

The Pet shop system I found to be very unique and very useful. Many times I would either place mine out in the quest fields where there are no item shops to help other players out there. I also relied on them a few items when I simply had no teleport scrolls or enough gold to fly back to velika. While I understand having the pet shops right in front of the Trade Broker is a bit redundant might I suggest limiting pet shops to use out side major cities? Perhaps implement trade tax's on them via vanarch?
The pet shops can be very useful towards limiting the players from vastly exaggerating prices of some items. Pet shops allow for a diversified item market and if used outside cities, they came in very handy for myself and the friends I chose to play with, I loved it in wow when ever someone had the mount with shops. Also I believe the option to toggle the pets on or off was already a satisfactory compromise for those that didn't want to use them.

I don't really have to many concerns personally with BoP gear so I'll skip that so long is that doesn't go out of hand.

The mischief item that was removed I found to be a fun gamble to throw smaller objects at in my inventory while sitting at a camp fire. I liked them. I would prefer they didn't get removed but I'm more concerned with other feature's removal at the moment though this does sit on my radar.

I also have issues with the Elin costume changes but I feel that's been mentioned to death and sadly I doubt my concerns on it will get me very far.

My top concern thus far how ever with En Masse in general is that I feel there is simply not enough communication on such drastic changes. I would appreciate it much more if I felt that my pre order money and my opinions as a potential Tera subscriber were heard. The only thing I see so far are closed threads and the occasional "surprise we changed this" every few months.

As others have suggested, would it be at all possible to have polls on the games website or in game during the beta's on such issues when it comes to changing such things as models, or features? As the recent out cry has shown, we would like to have ways to see that our input matters. My previous experiences with your customer support has been top notch, but I do have my concerns.

I've greatly enjoyed what I've played thus far in Tera and as a result I've begun to think about upgrading my pc and have canceled my subscriptions to WoW and cleared it off my system. I've made an investment in your product and we'd like to see it succeed. But I am concerned that sometimes I feel En Masse has not listened to it's player base. Please in the future I ask that you rely on us more than stale data sheets from what is successful with other western games. The fact is the masses are getting tired of the same cookie cutter game. We believe Tera is better than that. We already have cookie cutter movies, cookie cutter music and television, please break the mold and show us that we are worth more then the 50 bucks in our back pockets.

I had faith in your company during cbt2 and 3, I'm a bit weary after the recent patches, and I have gotten mad enough to contemplate canceling my subscription. I really don't want to so before I get drastic I wanted to express my concerns. I'm passionate about Tera because I believe it's far superior to whats out on the market and I want to be a part of it as it grows. We don't need another Blizzard, we don't need another Ncsoft. We'd like a company that actual listens to us. En Masse has shown glimpses of being that company. I hope this input means something. I've heard open beta will show case a fairly different experience to what I'm playing now. So I will reserve my judgement on whether or not to cancel based upon that experience. I was practically addicted to Tera during Cbt2 and 3. I want to feel the same way for cbt4 and beyond so I'm really hoping my voice was heard.

Also a few glitches I've found in cbt3.

Several times I would attack a mob on my lancer and her lance and shield would remain on her back but the animations would animate for her attacking pattern. This didn't happen during Cbt2.

Also as others have mentioned there is a problem with the Elin's color set in the dye system post costume changes. While I'd prefer the Korean versions, the suggestion of a toggle for both NA and K-tera versions has been denied so can we at least get the color shades fixed? I apologize if I sound condescending.

Thank you for your time.

QFT

Thank you for taking the time to express my worries and concerns in such a well written and though-out manner.

Thanks, if you agree with me PLEASE send a support ticket to En masse with your views.

I sent in a follow up and this is what I got.

Here is what I asked :

Considering the forums and a few support tickets have mentioned this, has any mention at all appeared from En Masse concerning this feed back on the recent changes? All I'm asking is is it even being discussed with them about the possibility of a revert? Will any mention about this be posted on the forums?

Here is En Masse's reply:

Hello sonic101mk2,
We have a designated feedback team that we send the feedback that you submit to them. We are not sure what exactly they are discussing at any time, but when there is new information regarding these topics, you will see it posted online and in our forums. Hope this helps!

Thank You,

I also put in a ticket and told my friends and family who play to do the same.. I also informed them all of the UI filter that already existed so they were all well informed.

I also think the RNG boxes were awesome and fun to do while sitting at a campfire... Now we nothing to do while sitting at a campfire except wait for stamina to SLOWLY refill.

I think the best course of action now is to educate the masses about the UI filter in place and the community will see once and for all that these changes should have never happened in the first place.

Like most people i'm putting BOP items aside when saying this because i'm not 100% sure how it will work since I've yet to see it in action.

I loved player shops and I loved rng boxes was alot of fun.

"But I am concerned that sometimes I feel En Masse has not listened to it's player base. Please in the future I ask that you rely on us more than stale data sheets from what is successful with other western games."

I feel like En Masse listens too well. That isn't a bad thing, but let's say everyone is enjoying the game as it is, but you have a handful of people that are extremely vocal in expressing their concerns that pop up on the forums and post like crazy. You get a lot of 'change this', 'lower this' and before you know it you've got all these changes that in the long run could hurt the game more than it helps.

I will never understand why optional content was removed from the game. Players who were frustrated never had to use the boxes of mischief to begin with.

OP actually reminded me of my biggest concern.

Its seems like all MMOs that come out recently try to differentiate themselves in the market by having their niche of game design. IE Rifts, BW Quality Voice acting/story, real action combat etc.

That is all good and all but all those games add their 1-2 unique things then end up cookie cuttering up the rest of the game. Im sorry but no one niche style keeps a game going. Just look at all the games that had their 1-2 special things they generate hype and people get sick of it.

Imo what a new mmo needs is to not just have new systems but actually have the overall experience different from what we are used to.

I am not playing tera because of the real action.. i am playing it because the world is one of the best fantasy worlds i have seen so far, the fact that the flow of the game seemed to be different and it had many things that i never had in a game before or been in a game for many many years.

Now they havn't done anything really that bad yet.. i mean i am against the 1-59 boe's being bop.. leveling is fast and it would be nice to be able to barter for the weapons/armor, not to mention enchanting. I just am concerned that this game will be cookiecutter mmo grind with action. Kinda like how rift is typical cookie cutter mmo with rifts. SW:Tor is typical MMO from 2005(awful game) with some bw single player stuff.

But really much of this is out of eme's hands as they are just dealing with the game they were dealt.

Perhaps but mostly through interviews and such I see a bunch of blanket statements that sound more like they are the opinion of En Masse, a group of 70 people, who are governing whats best for millions. I would like to see data sheets representative of how people feel towards THIS game. I don't care what worked in another game in this audience. I don't want a copy pasta game. I want something new. Removing these things that other games don't have because you're afraid to gamble is silly. We want innovation not the exact same game we've been fed countless times over the past decade.

OP sounds kind of petty complaining about things that barely effect 5% of the game play.
95% of what makes Tera fun is remaining unchanged from KTera.

Gonna have to go with this. The core of the game is still there.

I'm going to have to disagree. So far the only thing different about Tera is the combat system.... which is already available else where. Games as old as 10 years ago have it. PSO started it in a way, there are countless fry to play side scrolling fighter rpgs online(melty blood being a piss poor example of a newer one). that have combo systems with rpg elements. the only difference here is it's in a 3d semi open world. I say semi because there are invisible walls everywhere that block you from climbing that mountain to shortcut to the next area rather than go around. While personal shops are not new, they are rather rare in the west. Typically I've always preferred games with more asian aspect than western. That's my preference. But ultimately I like a variety in my games. Removing options and variety in favor of the status quo lowers my enthusiasm quite a bit.

Clearly I'm not the only one that thinks this way. Not all will agree. Call me petty if you want. But I dropped 60 bucks down on a preorder and payed for 3 month subscription post launch.

If you do the math, it will cost roughly $230 to preorder and play for a year on tera. That's a sizable investment for entertainment especially on a low income. Granted it's spread out over time mind you but how many years do you think you will play? I played wow for 2 years, at 30 dollars a card for 2 months it cost me 360 dollars. That doesn't include cash shop items, system upgrades and expansion costs. it can get fairly expensive to play one video game. I make less than 8grand a year so for me if i'm going to play a game I'm going to make sure it's exactly what I want.

Not everyone can afford high cost gaming. MMO's can get expensive.

Also all most all made up percentages start with "9-%". It's a tactic to add clout to ones opinion based off the fact humans like big or round numbers. Considering that a good deal of players, not all, will utilize the economy to get gear or stat healing items, anything that affects the availability or use of them I would wager has a lot more effect on game play than "5%".
