My thoughts on free +12 items.

What do you mean 'nothing you can do about it'?

If the item was rare, off of a very difficult boss that only some guilds can achieve; you can train your guild on how to fight those bosses then start winning your +12 items.

ezez.

If I was at a disadvantage to a team of full +12 folk, they obviously had the better gear / skill than we did. Fair loss is fair.

Rarity implies a sense of limited quantity or extreme difficulty in obtaining. My 'nothing you can do about it' referred to the former -- limited quantity. Assuming the latter, hardmode bosses drop gear that is better than the 'regular' bosses; your rarity is in the gear. You don't need to enforce 'rarity' on something like enchantments -- it's much better for it to be on gear because there is the option of the gear being of a different model/skin whereas enchantments will all look the same.

Of course, the third opinion is that you think you should have BOTH gear AND enchantments at a 'rarity' because of fighting hardmode bosses, in which case I categorically reject the opinion as simple and childish elitism. IOW, your 'rare +12 BiS item' is still a rare +12 BiS item, but not because of the enchantment -- because it's BiS. But the +12 is something anyone can aspire to -- bear in mind we're not talking about a negligent cost here. Only those who are dedicated enough to earn it in the first place are going to have it (or those who can afford to buy/deal in chronoscrolls). There is even a -measure- of rarity in that. There is no need, nor will most people support, more rarity ON TOP OF that. We don't care how 'hardcore' and 'special' someone thinks they need to be to have their ego assuaged.

lmao.

How would he steal the item if you place it in a no trade slot on the trade window and he clicks it?

Pretty sure thats never been implemented in any MMO ever. So what the black smith is able to upgrade the item with no powder costs? Every time he upgrades it does a trade commence where the person give him powder and money and then he can just the to click the item in this newly created no trade slot trade window? Or does the person have to initiate the trade every time he wants the blacksmith to try one time?

Pretty sure that I can name at least one game it's in and has been in since it's release in November 2004.

IIt could easily utilize a system that would draw mats from a specific inventory.

Ah did it, didn't know, didn't touch that game passed level 9. Even still, don't like the idea of this system, no matter what way you look at it, it hurts the casual player. People with strong guilds will get free upgrades to all their gear meanwhile the pub who is just playing for fun has to pay out the [filtered] for upgrades or has to level blacksmithing on their own, which again, people in guilds will get assistance from their guild for it.

HOw would it hurt the casual player?

Casual player works on blacksmithing, casual player earns bank off other players. Casual player profits. It still wouldn't be free. One person or the other would still have to buy the materials, it wouldn't cost anymore/any less than it does now.

The only difference is the person doing the clicking would have a chance at earn some extra coin, as they could opt to charge for their services.

As for getting assistance from their guild, that's the ENTIRE point of a guild..

You guys wont see +12 for a long time even with this change. All the update really did was shut the casuals up and made the ignorant no lifers rage.

The biggest chance of all this is the seal and unseal system. With this revamped system, you only need to lux 1 time and then reset its stats until you're satisfied. This will still take a lot of gold to get unless you're super lucky.

After that, have fun farming powders and sacrificial gears to get +12. It'll probably take you more than a month if not more. Unless, again, you're super lucky and go +9-12 with no fails.

Once you're fully decked +12, the level cap will probably raise anyways.

You realize you still have to Lux an item first to even be able to get above +9. Luxing not only costs absurd amounts of gold but it's practically a .5-1% chance. As far as i know they aren't removing that portion of enchanting.

I'm not a casual player, nor am I a no-lifer that wanted the original system. I'm happy they removed the -1, it already takes work, luck, and gold to get a +12. You don't want to play even more emphasis on luck.

TERA doesn't have a hit stat, thus removing a lot of RNG. Adding more as gold sinks isn't the way to please everyone.
