- TerA CBT was a big success and much people had a chance to participate
- GW2 CBT failed, and first impression of the game totally ruined most ppls point of view for the game
- The Secret World CBT failed as they boast about being best game of the year, but not giving anyone a chance to participate for CBT
- Diablo 3 CBT is still in progress i think, i dont know much about the game as i dont really play isometric games at all (except for helbreath but that was over 10 years ago)

I'm loving GW2. I don't lag, my computer is decentish. I don't have any issues completing quests and there are TONS of random "events" to quest through.

The quest text is better than what I've seen in Tera ( mind you I only got to level 20 ) but what does that matter when YOU CAN PLAY BOTH BECAUSE GW2 HAS NO MONTHLY FEE xD

The random events are not random. If you stand in the same spot that event will pop up again 15 min. later. You could stand there all day and do the same event over and over and over again if you wanted.

ISOMETRIC, THAT'S THE [filtered] WORD. Dear lord, I remember when I played MU Online, I saw that word somewhere, and I used it all the time to describe the game, but I completely forgot it and it kept bugging me for years (not enough to actually look into it, but enough where I would want to use it and couldn't remember it. For that reason alone, I love you.

In video games, "isometric" refers to some form of parallel projection (commonly, the form of dimetric projection mistakenly referred to as "isometric") where the viewpoint is rotated slightly to reveal other facets of the game environment than are visible from a top-down perspective or side view, thereby producing a three-dimensional effect. The terms "3/4 perspective", "2.5D" and "pseudo-3D" are also commonly used.
With the advent of more powerful graphics systems, "isometric" projection is becoming less common, instead being replaced by perspective projection.

I pre-purchased both the GW2 Collectors Edition and the Tera Collectors Edition.

Here's the differences I have seen so far.

Graphics: Tera wins hands down. Not even a contest. GW2 looks like crap warmed over.

Combat: Tera wins easily. Tera's combat system is interactive and skill based where as GW2 uses the same old boring tab to target and just spam abilities combat system.

Quests: GW2 has a better questing system. The whole event based open-ended questing system was more enjoyable then the typical "grab 3 quests from quest hub, go kill mobs, collect items, come back to turn them in at quest hub" system. That being said, I am a huge fan of just plain killing mobs for experience because I come from the old Everquest 1 days of MMORPGs. I hate questing for the most part. It makes me feel NOT like hero, and more like an employee.

Animations: Tera's character animations in and out of combat are far more impressive and fluent then those in GW2. The GW2 combat animations look choppy and ackward.

System performance: Tera is FAR better then GW2 in this department. The thing that boggles my mind is that Tera looks 100x better then GW2, but GW2 runs 100x worse then Tera on the same computer hardware. How is it possible that an ugly game can run worse then a beautiful game?!?! Seriously... what the hell is up with that.

At the end of the day, I fully plan to keep paying my subscription to Tera, and I will keep GW2 on my harddrive JUST BECAUSE it has no subscription fee. I probably will not play GW2 that much except for when my friends are online playing it. Assuming they play it after I give my early start buddy keys to them for Tera and they see how freaking awesome Tera looks and plays. Who knows, they may say screw GW2 after they play Tera.

One last thing I want to point out here.

I bought the Collectors Edition of GW2 before I ever got to play the game in beta. I bought it solely for the statue that comes in the box because I collect game statues to put on my desk at work.

I bought the Collectors Edition of TERA ***AFTER*** I played the TERA in the closed beta test. Yes you heard that right. I went out and spent the money on TERA ***AFTER I PLAYED THE BETA***. If you don't understand what that means, let me clarify it for you. I was so impressed with TERA from actually playing the game, that it convinced me to buy the collectors edition. That should tell you a lot about Tera right there.

I never said I was more special then you haha...

What I am saying is that people that played the beta of Tera went out and bought the game after playing the beta because it was so awesome. In contrast, after playing the GW2 beta, I wish I wouldn't have bought GW2. Hense, I enjoyed Tera way more then GW2.

I was going to post something like this on the GW2 beta forums, but they're hammered right now because the servers there are down for the next 30 minutes or so.
I admit I was very excited about the GW2 beta all day, but when I logged in and started playing I found myself just wishing it were tomorrow so I could play TERA.

I don't think GW2 is a huge mess or anything, but I found it... bland.
