I've been playing for the last few hrs to (the Guildwars 2 Beta). I wish Guildwars 2 had Tera fluidity of movement and actions and character design customizations. I was disappointed int he character design (so far any ways - it IS beta and they have time to improve).

A little resaerch on their forums show that they have things like SLI and crossfire capabilities turned off and their CPU optimization is up yet...so that may be some of the reasons for the slowness and such.

I do like Queting like GW2 and the pop up area events (Rift and Warhammer online like). It is confusing to a certain degree "because" the questing is open and you can go where you want and do things before you are maybe suppose too...that actually makes it a bit more like a "Grown-up" game than the linear quesing of games like WOW and Tera (IMHO). Bu I also like exploring and am not in a hurry to get to end games.

I just hope they get the combat and character movements more fluid before they consider it finished (and more customization).

**Edit CPU *NOT* optimized yet...I meant to say

- TerA CBT was a big success and much people had a chance to participate
- GW2 CBT failed, and first impression of the game totally ruined most ppls point of view for the game
- The Secret World CBT failed as they boast about being best game of the year, but not giving anyone a chance to participate for CBT
- Diablo 3 CBT is still in progress i think, i dont know much about the game as i dont really play isometric games at all (except for helbreath but that was over 10 years ago)

ISOMETRIC, THAT'S THE [filtered] WORD. Dear lord, I remember when I played MU Online, I saw that word somewhere, and I used it all the time to describe the game, but I completely forgot it and it kept bugging me for years (not enough to actually look into it, but enough where I would want to use it and couldn't remember it. For that reason alone, I love you.

In video games, "isometric" refers to some form of parallel projection (commonly, the form of dimetric projection mistakenly referred to as "isometric") where the viewpoint is rotated slightly to reveal other facets of the game environment than are visible from a top-down perspective or side view, thereby producing a three-dimensional effect. The terms "3/4 perspective", "2.5D" and "pseudo-3D" are also commonly used.
With the advent of more powerful graphics systems, "isometric" projection is becoming less common, instead being replaced by perspective projection.

i knew you didn't write that

TERA is not even a beta game anymore, its been out for like a year now, we're getting the same [filtered] as KR version, just localization minor stuff, but people make it sound like its a totally new game in the hood.

Gw2 is testing CPUs so if you clutter and such, get a new cpu.

playing from australia, i didnt even get any lag, or ping issue like TERA but i can agree tera does feel alittle better BUTT tera gonna get ruined anyway with all this stupid changes to them i dont see them last longer than porn star

I posted my opinion about the game on another thread but ill copy/paste it here.

I like both games, and ill tell you the reasons i liked gw2 after trying it.

1- Huge open world, compared to the first one

2- Huge main Cities, basically take Velika and put it 3 times inside the main Human city of Gw2( i explored the Human City, took me 21minutes to fully explore all districts. 12minutes just to walk around it. Each race also has a big city, not only humans.

3- Big raid bosses even at low lvls, the first one i saw was a lvl 15 one, called Shadow Behemoth.

4- Champion bosses, equivalent to Tera's BAMS even at lvl 5, these are for groups, can be soloed if you have the skill.

5- No need for LFG since you can party with whoever you want, no need for healers/tanks, the game doesnt have taunt mechanics, so basicaly every dungeon/fight is about movement, you dont move, you die. Everyone has a healing spell, and every class has support spells.

6- Challenging Dungeons, you are going to die..alot, Traps everywhere, Puzzles.

7- Dungeons have random events happening in them, so runs dont always look the same

8- Dynamic events, altho people claim its the same old questing but different, i say no, its true its similar, but the events give you multiple choices for a given event, 1 event has many different points that will help that event progress, the events also dont wait for you, they trigger themselves, the only "old school" quests are your personal storyline quests, that you need to talk to npc's in order to trigger.

9- Events cross each-other, 1 event can cross with another event in the world, and now you have to deal with multiple situations at the same time.

10- The world feels alive, since you dont need to always be in a group, just by participating with nearby players, you are rewarded and so are they.

11- Scaling content, it is true, Gw2 doesn't have a traditional Endgame, where all you do is log in 3 times a day and grind that raid to get your armor piece, instead, you are scaled to the zones you're in, so if you level too fast, and come back to the lvl 15 zone and the Shadow Behemoth raid boss spawns, he will be challenging for you, since you will be scaled down to the zone level, that means that content is always fun to do, since you never really out-level it, and considering the amount of stuff to do in zones, you will have hours and hours of gameplay.

12- PVP, organized pvp, where skill trully matters and not gear, the pvp zones are HUGE, the zones are probably as big as a whole Tera continent. Filled with Castles and Capture points.
(people can say all they want, i can bet 10$ most pro pvp players in most mmo's would never survive a hall of heroes pvp fight in the first gw, that sick gear isn't going to save you)

13- No monthly fee, i can play when i want, no need to worry about money( same thing with Tera to be honest, people who cant afford 15$ a month are either poor as heck or dont work enough)but anyways, no monthly is nice.

14- Graphics, they look good for an mmo imo, sure Tera has alot of post process blur/bloom and DOF but if it didnt had that it would look the same as Gw2.

15- Gameplay, could careless, sure i love the Tera combat, but i've played mmo's long enough to be fine with tab target, and it doesn't bother me, anways the combat is more similar to age of conan that Rift/WoW. You can cast most of your spells while moving, melee characters dont need to tab target, so make sure you're close to your target, otherwise your hits will hit air, like in Tera. Same thing with casters, although you can cast whenever you want. your spells will most of the time land on your enemy no matter what, unless they're aimed.

16- Leveling pace, one thing that bothered me with Tera so far is that its soo easy to level, i got my sorc to lvl 32 + gold disc @ +6 already, and havent even played a total of 24hours., this makes me afraid that ill just burn through the Tera content too fast, and its not like i even play that much, i only play after work, and haven't even played a total of 24hours.

In Gw2 its waaaay slower, last beta i got to lvl 18 playing for 2days, max lvl of 80.

17- Monster Ai, the Ai is quite good, from what i experienced, mobs dont stand in your aoe's, ranged mobs, kite you, dodge you.

18- Enviromental Weapons,(you can basicaly grab stuff that is in the enviroment, be it wood planks, tree branch, a bucket, a bottle of rum, etc) because grabbing rotten grapes and throwing them at a drake is quite satisfying.

On the other side tho, the game is really in a Beta state, not like our Beta which is a false Beta, considering Tera's been out for well over a year in Korea.

Lots of bugs i found in Gw2 so far, items disappearing, instances problems, Lag, the game doesn't seem to be optimized yet, i have quite a machine and my fps is worse than Tera.

Edit: @ the post above me, that's funny because i also work in 3d, and i actually found their models quite good, if you're a game developer, then you should be able to see through the illusion of the post process volumes Tera uses to hide their flat textures, remove the dept of field, remove the huge blur, remove the intense bloom, and you got yourself a game that looks like Aion. I say this because i work with the Ut3 Engine, and make small games. Plus if you look closely at the UV's of some characters you can see that some of them have quite some problems, when you look at them through the the database files, when you can see the modeling symmetry on the belly of elins, where the UV's from one side dont match the other...not being a fanboy of Gw2, but saying their models sucks..really dude.

I have been watching this guy played GW2 for 2hrs.
The game was so bad that he couldn't keep his promise to stream the game for most of the beta.
His friend joined him to make the experience better, but they both raged after 30mins because it was so bad lol.

The graphic is so bad...How is this next gen graphic?
Combat is walking around spamming 11111231112...
And the "dynamic questing/group questing" is so bad that I questioned all the people that said it was the best thing since slice bread.
It is just a quest hub within a 20meters radius that you can wait 5mins for a "unique event" to start.
Then collecting freaking rocks/bags/bombs until these "once a lifetime" event to start in a "dynamic" and "random" area...

Let me just say, "THANK GOD WE ARE GETTING A GAME THAT ACTUALLY FEELS READY FOR RELEASE!"

I couldn't give a rat's fart less about the fact that the game has been out in Korea for a year already. I am sick of non-finished MMORPGs being released. The past five years have been packed full of unfinished MMORPGs being shipped to customers.

When I logged in to Tera in CBT5 and then the OBT, the thing that kept coming to my mind was how polished the game was overall. It's refreshing to have a COMPLETED game for once. Maybe we should let the Koreans beta test all MMORPGs for a year before they are "released" to the west. At least that way, we get GREAT GAMES FROM DAY ONE WHEN THEY RELEASE.

GW2, in its current state, is a horrible mess. I don't expect it to launch this year in a playable state at all. Here's why:

This is a game that's been in development for years and they don't even have keybind modifiers: wanna use shift+1,2,3,4,5 for your 6,7,8,9,0 keybinds? Nope.

The combat is meh. I played as a Mesmer, and I didn't feel like it flowed at all. Nevermind the fact that it's target based combat rather than Tera's combat. It just didn't feel nice. Basically I found spells just flat out not going off, clunky animations, and mobs behaved... interestingly. That could have been because of high population issues, though.

Even with the "overflow servers", the mob spawn rate was through the roof. Mobs were spawning on mobs, and as a clothie mesmer, I couldn't handle the onslaught. I died so many times it's not even funny. Not because the game is fun, but because I just couldn't get out of combat.

The questing is tedious as [filtered]. I thought Tera's noob island was bad. GW2 is worse. Basically, besides the "story" quests where you get put into instances by yourself (yeah, it's an MMO), there's not much of a story. You're told to help people, and so you go to different areas marked by an empty heart. You fill up a meter by mindlessly grinding mobs in the area or clicking items, and then you go on to the next area. Sometimes an event will trigger that causes the area to basically get swarmed, or you need to do an escort quest, or collect things and return them to a dude. Those are the "dynamic events". Rift had it much, much better.

PvP is pretty good. Not going to lie. I enjoyed it.

But not WvWvW. WvWvW is broken for beta. Basically server matchups won't work because they're scheduled every two weeks to balance based on population, and for these betas, you just can't do it. So arguably the "best" part of the game? Completely a roflstomp for the beta.

Like I said, most of this stuff will probably get fixed for release. Questing is questing. It's always the same in every MMORPG. WoW's Cataclysm quests are probably the most interesting at this point. Also Rift's crazy quest lines... those are pretty good. SWTOR's use of cutscenes and instances just doesn't entertain me, not even in GW2. And GW2's "quests everywhere" thing is just not doing it for them either. Tera also has "standard" questing (though some are very interesting, I'd put it at the same point as GW2 roughly), but I just like the idea of picking up certain quests and knowing what I need to do. Not filling up a rather dubious bar. Seriously, it moves like a mm each kill or collection. How much stuff do I need to do to fill the thing up? The story quests were better, though.

Tera makes up for the questing with Combat and the amazing open world PvP/GvG system.

GW2 makes up for the questing with broken WvWvW.

On release they'll be more evenly matched. Right now? GW2 is utter crap. But it's beta. And it feels like beta, not a "sneak preview" style beta like we've been having recently. They shouldn't have let in so many testers, to be honest. But I guess they have to stress the servers. They just better fix the issues.

(Here's the kicker: most of these people playing prepurchased, including myself. We're PAYING for this experience. The same amount we'll be paying for the game itself. There's no monthly fee. There's no reason for ArenaNet to WANT to keep us playing the game, beyond getting our money. That's my problem with the game not being P2P. The only reason to keep us playing is to sell us things from the cash shop.)

Tera wins hand down, it's not even close.

When I first played Tera, I could enjoy it after like 10mins because the action combat system was something I knew only on instanced games such as Vindictus, exception made for DCUO but it just did not get me as much as Tera.

Guildwars 2 fighting system is very far from being fluid, I came to hate it really fast. After only 3 hours of gameplay I was already exasperated and was favoring the "gathering" events to fighting events by far.

The way how the game is designed is also very flawed. Basically, you have a main quest which is your storyline. However you cannot simply focus on doing these quests since the level of the quests will easily be over your current level and believe me, if you are lvl 4 and the quest is lvl 6, you need to think carefully about doing it. So you end up having to "farm" events & daily achievements. Unlike most games where you can actually grind your level, it would be absurd to do so in GW2 considering how at level 4-5 monsters gave me 15xp and I needed 5k to level up.

The events system, something which we thought would be amazing is simply boring like no tomorrow. It's always the same events, at the same place.

The graphics are bad, simple as that. They do not excuse the time they spent on this game for sure.

However, the item shop seems to be ok so far, no items which seems to give any unfair advantage to anyone.

I thought I was going to buy this game... I even almost fulled my hall of monuments waiting for it. I can now say that my money is going to Tera.

Lol, i see, TERA is truly to easy then.,
had no problem with mobs in gw2 so far.

This is why TERA will win because TERA only has good graphic and a little bit of combat, and for contents WERE LOSiNG CONTENTS and features!
