Hello everyone,

I've been playing D3 since the release date, but I've decided to pause/stop until Blizzard fix the game balance issue. I'd like to ask yalls insights of games' pros and cons. Is it worth it paying monthly subscription?

Thanks in advance.

Pros:
-Action Combat.
-Beautiful Graphics.
-Big [filtered] Monsters (BAM)
-Political System.
-Battlegrounds soon to come.
-Nexus System soon to come.
-Multiple Races.
-No factions.
-Open World PvP (PvP Servers).
-GvG (Guild vs Guild, PvP Servers).

Cons:
-Repetitive questing to the point you may want to gouge your eyes out.
-Story easily ignored due to horrible presentation.
-Horrible Community, definitely could be better.
-Tends to be linear.
-Not enough fluff (things that doesn't include you having to be fighting x mobs over and over.)

Well I think its worth paying for, but as to how long its worth subbing for is another matter and to personal tastes.

Hmm I guess the game gets repetitive easily after passing a certain level...

Can you just stop posting? Please!

PRettty Please?! With sugar on top?!

Err, but as I was saying.

Pro:
Very fun combat that rewards skill.
Amazing Graphics
Fun exploration (Well if you're into that kind of thing)
A fairly good community (Yes yes, the forum sucks [filtered], but in Celestial hills the RP server, the people are generally very good, and theres a lot of spontaneous RP, something I don't see very often in an MMO)
Bams
Nexus looks cool.
Battlegrounds look fun too.

Con:
Quests.

More quests.

GAHH! WITH THE QUESTS!

Also, really crappy forums, and a somewhat unbalanced PVP sector.

Blazew pretty much hit the nail on the head -- I too agree that you get your money's worth though. Not sure about its lasting power, but the amount of entertainment time recieved justified my original purchase of the game.

The combat really is fun, and the game/graphics really are beautiful.

If you read reviews of TERA, most of them will have the same general tone.

The action combat system in TERA is the best I've ever seen in an MMO. It has its own flaws, and there will never be a shortage of hardcore players complaining about some PvP loss, but it's innovative and incredibly engaging. No more Tab Select -> Rotation -> Rinse -> Repeat -> Suicide

However that's where the innovation stops thus far. The quest system is the same WoW mechanic of "Hammer dialog buttons until the quest shows up in your quest tracker, either Go to X, Talk to X, or Kill Y amount of X, return to NPC". Battlegrounds are being introduced soon, but that's just catching us up to games that have been out for years. Nexuses, the political system, and server vs server content are what I'm really banking on, but we haven't seen how these concepts will develop yet.

The community is also pretty awful. The game wasn't marketed very well (at all), so I've only met a few people who are just playing to have a good time. Spend a bit of time in LFG chat and you'll understand. There are quite a few trolls, hardcore players, and horrifyingly creepy catgirl enthusiasts who make the rest of us look like pedophiles. Still, you can find some great people (and once you do, hold on to them for dear life).

You'll hear a lot of trash talking about a lack of endgame content, and to some extent that's true. However, we're not even three weeks into the NA launch and the summer promises tons of new content. Some people just can't play a game that doesn't reward them every day for their 15 hour marathon sessions. There's plenty to do in game, and if you're one of those people who take your time, you're going to have a great time.

This game is fun as hell. The environments are beautiful, the combat is fantastically engaging, the PvP is dynamic, and when you do find a good group of people to play with it shines. The instances are also engaging, particularly once you get into the 50+ range.

Really do give it a shot. It's well worth your time, and it's definitely worth the first month to see if you enjoy it. Be sure to play your class to level 20+ to see it really start to shine before you make your decision, and just have a good time.

If you find you do want to continue to play but you don't want to pay the subscription fee, chronoscrolls will also be available soon (like the PLEX system in EVE) that can be purchased on the AH and redeemed for gametime

Quests are boring.

LMAO you people amuse me so much. Its a game and the aim of the game is to level. They could take out all the quests and you could get just the kill per mob experience, would that solve your quest grind problem?

Levelling a character is all about grinding and the quest experience helps you level faster. Lots of us love the storyline quests and they actually get quite interesting.

You people are like sheep, one person says (Oh this game is grindy) and you are all on the bandwagon crying.

"You people are like sheep, one person says (Oh this game is grindy) and you are all on the bandwagon crying."

The only thing more frustrating than trolls is fanbois who can't take criticism

This game is far, far less grindy than what you'd expect out of a Korean MMO. Following quests, there's only been 20% of one level where I didn't have a quest to help me out, and even then I had repeatables. They do a great job of getting you from 1-60 effectively, and if you care to read the storyline text there are some cool moments. By far my favorite has been the NPC you talk to before you enter Sky Garden. There are also some cool (and occasionally very confusing) cut scenes, if that's your thing

But let's not pretend the quest system is anything different than what's existed in MMOs for a long time. Even GW2 has the same basic system, but it tried to do something different with it, and it works pretty well. TERA could have done more to make the quest experience more engaging, but it didn't, and that's all.
