These TERA fanboys are quite desperate to make the game look good...someone even listed "multiple races" as a pro just to make the list look bigger. No [filtered]. Let us be honest here:

PRO:
-Graphics are beautiful
-Character customization is quite impressive, far better than the majority of today's MMO's, comparable to that of Perfect World
-Skill-based combat system (Literally, based on your gamer 'skills')
-Political System
-Huge [filtered] mobs make a good first impression, you actually have fun at first

CON:
-Huge [filtered] mobs get repetitive all the sooner, you notice they all do the same [filtered] and it becomes tedious
-Combat system backfires, you find yourself doing the same [filtered] anyway in pve only more tedious than other MMOs
-Elin. (Seriously, everyone and their grandmother is playing this race...eliminates the variety)
-Questing is just garbage, if I remember correctly a TERA representative even said "Who reads quests anyway?" so basically they just type in any [filtered] without a feel to it
-Save the initial fun, it ends up feeling like every other MMO you have quit before
-Community IS crap, and that is saying something. MMO communities generally lean toward [filtered]s but this one is worse than most... and they are not helpful
-Lack of pvp content coupled with uncontrolled pvp in lower level zones drives higher levels to grief newbies in pvp servers
-Tanking is ridiculously boring, you are basically there to hold and tank mobs and thats about it, the DPS get all the action
-Most weapons look the same, intentional I guess so you could buy their "weapon skins" $10 a pop
-No endgame content, you level just for the sake of leveling. Someone said that "every game does this" and that is bull[filtered], you don't play an MMO for 5+ years (WoW, EVE, the list goes on) if it doesn't have endgame content or a POINT to level.

-Just overall very few thought given to gameplay and majorly focused on graphics & their "revolutionary" combat system, it is fun for a while but I feel these guys merely aimed at extracting what $$$ they can from players before they inevitably crash (Game died in Korea and Japan, and it is supposedly a Korean-based MMO)

Probably missed some pros or cons but its just what I could say right off the bat

Pros:
-Action Combat.
-Beautiful Graphics.
-Big [filtered] Monsters (BAM)
-Political System.
-Battlegrounds soon to come.
-Nexus System soon to come.
-Multiple Races.
-No factions.
-Open World PvP (PvP Servers).
-GvG (Guild vs Guild, PvP Servers).

Cons:
-Repetitive questing to the point you may want to gouge your eyes out.
-Story easily ignored due to horrible presentation.
-Horrible Community, definitely could be better.
-Tends to be linear.
-Not enough fluff (things that doesn't include you having to be fighting x mobs over and over.)
-Censorship
-Federation
-Parts of the Story rewritten.
-Recolored/Renamed Monsters

Well I think its worth paying for, but as to how long its worth subbing for is another matter and to personal tastes.

I added Censorship to the cons. It's more than just the Elins that were censored. But other than that this guy has it perfect.

Quests are boring.

LMAO you people amuse me so much. Its a game and the aim of the game is to level. They could take out all the quests and you could get just the kill per mob experience, would that solve your quest grind problem?

Levelling a character is all about grinding and the quest experience helps you level faster. Lots of us love the storyline quests and they actually get quite interesting.

You people are like sheep, one person says (Oh this game is grindy) and you are all on the bandwagon crying.

Speaking of sheep. Fanboys!

No that would make the grind worse. You know wha twould make it better? More varied quests, different activities, things to do outside of killing X group thirty times, or killing X group for X drops 50 times.

As much as I like this game, your fanboy response is awful. Learn to accept criticism for the things you happen to like. It's not a bandwagon just because you don't like it.

I like this game too, but flaws are flaws and this game coud be a lot better.

I wrote a long post but thought I could summerize it as:

Compared to another great mmo (WoW) tera is better in virtually every way except that it doesn't have BGs yet, and the cross-server LFD isn't as good yet.

Main pros:

Combat
Dungeons
Graphics
Overall fun

Main Cons:
No BGs yet
Too long to find group in LFD unless you are a lancer

Oh look, this thread has devolved into a p.issing contest with people on one side shouting "fanbois!" (sic) and people on the other crying "trolls!". The usual polar opposite perspectives presented with vicious and petty disregard for their fellows...and never the twain shall meet.

How quaintly typical.

To the OP - my advice would be to drive straight on through this crazy hick town, don't pause anywhere for coffee or a bite cos you're liable to get your head blown off by some trigger happy locals prone to starting a fight even if they were alone in a room with nothing but a mirror.

Somewhere in the middle of this scrum is something approaching a true reflection of the game but the only way you'll know for sure is to try it yourself...and avoid this forum community like the plague until you do, for here lies madness.

Hello everyone,

I've been playing D3 since the release date, but I've decided to pause/stop until Blizzard fix the game balance issue. I'd like to ask yalls insights of games' pros and cons. Is it worth it paying monthly subscription?

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to address it not only to the OP, but to any prospective players who go to a game's forum asking should I play this or not. Forums are forums and you get your fans and your trolls. Think of the game as the Matrix. No one can tell you what Tera is - you have to see it for yourself.

It's difficult to explain the effect of the change of how action is handled without you trying it yourself.

For myself I'll tell you I was once a hater and I would've come to reply to your question in a negative fashion - based on the existence of Elins alone. Trying the game changed my tune real quick. It's one of the funnest things I've played since I started on MMOs. But again, you have to make up your own mind.

I notice most people complain about the quest system and the game being grindy.
Those are baseless accusations if people just want to come here and repeat whatever some reviewer said without any proof or explanation.

First of all, the quest system is not "inferior" to anything you may have already seen in WoW or Aion.
The questing interface itself, is VERY user friendly, it always auto-marks mobs that are quest related, it auto-loots quest related drops from said mobs. This process, is absolutely superior to what I have seen in WoW and Aion.
Even picking up drops in this game (I mention this because thats one mechanic activity you will do over a million times in any MMO) is much more fluid than what I did in any previous MMO.
The availability of quests in relation to leveling is near perfect and if you follow your campaign quests, there is little to no backtracking so unless you don't know what you are doing, you only move forward along all the areas in the game.
This game has mini instance quest areas and "instanced" NPCs that work A LOT better than that disaster WoW did with instanced areas where players in the same party become invisible to each other if they are in different parts of a campaign. Tera handled that way, way better.

The fact that this game did not fully innovate the questing system seems to be used against it time and again. It's an unfair accusation since TERA never promised to innovate that.

By the way, it is by far the best MMO I have ever played.

-First MMO I have seen that is both subscription-based AND has vanity shop ($25 for race change, really)

I could have argued many of your negative points but when you said this is the first MMO you have ever seen with a subscription and a cash shop, you pretty much killed your post all by yourself.
