New Prelude is FRUSTRATING!

I am just concerned over the new players that haven't been through the CBTs and are unfamiliar with the game. This prelude is not near the nice progression offered after and may frustrate and ruin the first impression of our new player base.

I would hate to turn away players, we need as many as we can get! Though to be honest, TERA is not a noob game and caters to the hardcore gamer which is why I love it!!!

Yes, I feel that the prologue will be overwhelming for some people. i mean I played an archer through the CBT's. I rolled a warrior last night. I was overwhelmed and I feel pretty confident about playing MMORPGs. I'm not going to lie, I died a couple of times during the prologue, but meh, your "party" just finishes the BAM anyways.

I agree that the prelude is still very rough - so much so that it probably shouldn't have been implemented without a bit more polish. They absolutely should have let you customize keys etc. That was very annoying.

The idea on the other hand is outstanding. Being able to jump ahead in a classes progression for 10 minutes and preview how it plays is a big benefit for those trying to decide on a class.

I loved the new Prologue. The only thing that I was wondering was how my character going from level 20 back down to level 1 fits in with the lore. Did I get severely wounded? Did I get some kind of selective amnesia that caused me to forget my other skills? I'd love for that to be explained (lore-wise). Other than that, I really enjoyed it. :O)

The character you played wasn't your actual character. It was a member of the first expedition, who, at the end, dies.

The character you played IS your actual character. You were a member of the first expedition, and are returning after recovering from your defeat to help look for Elleon. They explain this in quest text the moment you arrive at the Island of Dawn (the level 1 version).

I don't remember reading that. I remember reading that you were a new recruit going to the Island for the first time as you are flying that pegasus?

Dunno, for me the tutorial was pretty good. It's fail safe but still gets you using your skills and prepares you to move around and aim. The skill position is an extremely small problem which is probably mostly from ppl already having a play type. The problem will probably be lessened with ppl who have no experience with the game. The tutorial gets you used to your class, used to basic game functions, and starts you doing something exciting and cool. I think it serves its purpose we'll.

I personally loved it, but I can see how it can be annoying to some people. Honestly though, the whole experience is like 10 minutes long so its shouldn't be a big deal.

The first and subsequent NPCs you talk to are all like (paraphrasing) "Welcome back, you probably don't remember me, but I was on the beach when you went up into the caves to find Elleon. He's still missing. I heard you returned to help find him. You're so brave to come back here. Have my babies. But first let's get some training in you to help with your recovery. We need people like you who already have experience on this island. Blah blah."

It's written a bit better than that. I guess most people are skipping reading the Island NPC dialogue, assuming it's the old text from the CBT period, but it's completely new dialogue now. The main difference is (unlike CBT) the first expedition was not completely wiped out, just mostly. There were survivors and you're one of them.

I may or may not have imagined the bit about making babies.

If you can't figure out how to play with instructions, arrows, basically 1 linear path, a cross hair, 4 skills... then you are not cut out to play any video game.

Except this is how brand new players to the game will be introduced to TERA. Frankly I feel it poorly represents the game. The flow is off. Yes, you can muddle through it. But if I'd never played TERA during Beta this intro would be a major turn off.

Plus, did anyone else get a major Skyrim vibe off it? >.>;

I didn't find the lack of customizable buttons all that bad. Its not like you're stuck with them for a long time.

As someone interested in playing different classes/races I did like the option of being able to start off right away and see how the class flowed and the different race animations for moves.
