No, just no.
Was a terrible system, doesnt work, just forces entire server to run to one spot drop hailstorm lag everyone out and you just die from the aura of the boss. Everyone has 1 FPS or less and its not fun. You gotta lock these so that only a group can go and kill them. They are pretty pointless.

Welcome to day one of a world event.

It won't be like this every time. Give it a week. Maybe even less than a week.

Agreed. As it is the nexus is near unplayable for the vast majority of us who can't spend 5k on a rig. Collision detection and terrible framerate make it just awful. The worst part is I'm forced to do it if I want good pvp gear down the road. Make it instanced or give me a better way to get pvp gear.

I have got to agree that at the moment the Nexus is nothing short of a pure unadulterated lag fest. Whats the point if you basically playing almost turn base with the horrible framerate. I really hope they instance the Nexus with 20-30 per instance.

I think the biggest issue is the sheer number of people required to successfully close a single nexus. The first event was an utter fail on Frost Reach, with several resets and mass wipes. Truly shocking given the number of people there at one nexus, which was easily 40 or more.

If you require a crap load of people to bunch around in the same area, of course they're going to have a difficult time playing, even on amazing hardware. From another thread, QTF:

Please optimize the game engine. i have a 680gtx and im sitting at 10fps..... I love the new Powerpoint.

While I didn't have that big of an issue (more like 20 FPS, on a much older ATI Radeon 5870, 8 cores, 16 GB of RAM), it is unsettling that someone with a $550 graphics card is getting 10 FPS.

If you're at 10 fps with a 680 during nexus than you should probably consider turning your settings down, since I can get higher than that during nexus with my 3 year old laptop. Don't be afraid of medium settings.

When you pay that much for a graphics card, you should be able to max things out. I edited my post to clarify that my scenario wasn't exactly the same. However, if users are having issue with high end hardware, then that is a big problem.

It's also worth noting that what sever you play on also matters. Not all populations and levels of activity are the same.

It is also worth noting that for MMO framerates, CPU actually becomes more important when you have that many players in one area.

And for population issues - if you turn your PC rendering down to 10 or 20 characters max, population starts to become a non-issue.

Edit: I don't disagree that a 680 should be able to get max graphics normally, but there's more at work here than just a GPU.
