Pepperzine, we have been responding in this thread. This is still just the starting nexus schedule. We can add to this schedule as needed, and we continue to look at the best ways in which to optimize the Nexus system.
We're still tweaking.

Batgirl, can you say anything about whether or not you'd consider changing the Nexus model to something like what I and others have suggested? That is, run nexuses randomly throughout the day, all week, and simply limit the amount of rep/reward items you can get per week to maintain the limit on rate of progression?

Nexuses are a terrible idea and will sink this game faster than a lack of content or rng enchanting. Wish they would remove them and implement pvp kill player dailies instead.

Right now we're working on optimizing the Nexus system to create the most enjoyable experience for everyone (while also making sure the next patch is on track, etc, etc - there's a lot of ball juggling that goes on in game development).
I can't comment on exactly what's being looked at, but the production team does read these threads.

Glad to hear it - if that's the case, let me reiterate what I've voiced in other threads, as well as via a submitted ticket (never responded to incidentally - even though I also had a legitimate question), and has been posted ad-naseum.

PVEing - not matter how smooth and optimized the experience - for PVP specific gear does not sit well with me, or a number of other pvpers, both the vocal posters, and many more with whom I have chatted over mumble, vent, etc...

To make it worse, there are only specific times you can do this. To make it even more painful, the experience itself is horrifically boring, even painful to go through. You couldn't have implemented an event worse than a Nexus to make me lose interest faster. I would've even rather had every single character deleted, and I'd still have more interest to keep playing, than go run a Nexus.

Fine - don't run Nexuses, right? I thought so too - so I didn't, but now I cannot be even remotely close to active in pvp since the pvp gear gives such amazing bonuses.... Broken system, to rival a lot of the other rather "/facepalm" epic mmo launch disasters. In my opinion at least.

Quote: Chager on 05/31/2012, 04:45 PM - view
Bit of clarification here:

The schedule that Knoxxer posted is our beginning schedule. It is subject to change but it's our starting point.

We're using this as our starting point due to the population of players that can enjoy this event. The more the 58-60 player base grows, the more the schedule will grow. We want players to group together and finish a nexus, and having a Wednesday morning nexus won't result in enough players to get through an event.

We're always listening to feedback and I know these times don't work for everyone's schedule (Short of a 24 hour nexus period there is always someone that will be left out) but let's use this as a starting point and grow the times and days from here.

Thanks,
-Chager

Were you at the event? Seriously?

We had 800 f-ing people at the Nexus Event yesterday! You could run the thing every other hour and there would ALWAYS be people able to clear at least ONE nexus!

What does it matter if they clear the map or not? At least it gives people something to do other then grinding the same two Hardmodes EVERY FREAKING day.....

Now.... Why the weekends? Why the hell would you pick Nexus's on the weekend during the day? Do Dev's not have a regular life outside of work?

Do you know anything about your community or the gaming community in general? 99% of raiding guilds / progression guilds / pvp / or what have you; do their nights during the week for a reason. People work during the week, come home to play a game and rinse and repeat till the weekend.

Obviously Enmasse Dev's know nothing about their community.... Good Job

Soo.... what they're saying is that they arn't going to cater to your carebear [filtered] and stfu, noone wnats to hear you [filtered], you are a cancer in video games, you ruin them, you make them not fun, you make them not fair, you are a [filtered].

I agree with this quite a bit. While I haven't had the chance to try out a nexus yet (D3 sucked up most of my leveling time this last month), there needs to be a way to get gear for PvP by doing PvP.

Now granted, the entire system is a bit out of whack right now since battlegrounds aren't implemented. That's fine, really; despite being out in Korea for a long time, the game is still new here and there's some kinks to work out in the process of localizing it. I do think releasing the game in such an "obvious beta" is a huge mistake, and limiting beta access to only a few weekend events where we couldn't help to test these very battlegrounds was a waste of opportunity, but that's a rant for a different day.

The point is, if there is going to be gear for PvP, it needs to be easily accessible by everyone, or it needs to come from doing PvP. If battlegrounds give no reward, or if you need to do nexuses to even attempt to do battlegrounds, that's a flawed system and it will kill this game very quickly.

Now, I'm not saying there can't be some overlap; if you want to do PvP but also get some entry level PvE gear, or want to PvE but also get some PvP gear from it, that's fine. But if the only way to PvP is to do PvE content, there's a problem.

Having pvp specific gear is the mistake. Older games didn't have them and these newer games need to do away with them. If you find gear that makes you better, then that is that! Your character should benefit for pvp and pve equally. It's a lazy system to keep players playing longer... but then again so is grinding the same dungeons over and over. Boils down to lazy development and no creativity.
