In Age of Conan you can buy a fast mount for around $20, or you can grind 200 hours for one. Its a broken mechanic


Yes, it is a broken mechanic, imho, because HAVING to grind 200 hours for a way to move faster in a game is NOT ENJOYABLE to me, therefore that mechanic needs to be either removed (only if EVERYONE agrees is it not enjoyable) or if some players DO find it enjoyable, then another means to obtain faster movement in a game needs to be implemented alongside, such as selling fast moving mounts for real money instead of having to grind for them.

I checked Tera Answers and do not see how this point is invalid:


Chronoscrolls get rid of the risk of identity theft as well as e-theft.

It is the hope of En Masse that players would rather spend a few dollars more for the security than a few dollars here and there with the risk of everything that can go wrong (account perma-bans, theft, identity theft, and account hacking)

I agree with the previous poster that indicated it reduces the problem, but does not eliminate it - unfortunately. En Masse also can not sell time cheaper than the monthly subscription rate or nobody would subscribe. e.g. THEY has a lower price boundry, the RMTs don't.

En Masse needs to cut the b.s. and just sell the cash straight up, and people need to stop caring so much about the next persons gear and how they got it.

I personally think buying in game gold might be the dumbest dorkiest most socially inept thing a person can do, but it's their right.

Thank God this great game relies more on mechanics, movement and reflexes than gear.

Chronoscrolls are unique in that they do not introduce more money into circulation on a particular server which destroys the server economy. Also with the large number of gold sinks in this game this will go far to keep the server economies more stable than other MMO's.


You haven't played the CBT's yet have you? Gear still plays a large role but it isnt the end all be all of combat.

You just quoted a post that answers your reply...

And when I said it reduces RMTs, not removes them completely - that was a positive comment in favor of Chronoscrolls. They will always be a problem...Chronoscrolls helps it be less of one.

And MOST chronoscroll buyers WILL buy them from EME for a few dollars more.

There will always be some who think "lol why would I spend 15 instead of 12? Suckers!" Who buy from RMTs and further the problem, because they don't care about the overall health of the game or its community, only about their own progression and advantage in the game.

But most people will go the safer route to avoid giving their CC/paypal info to an RMT, and because 2-3 bucks isn't a big deal when it means the game is better overall.

People who save those few dollars to buy from RMTs will come up with all kinds of excuses to justfiy their destructive behavior, but just ignore them - they'll shut up as soon as people stop looking at them. They know who they are, they already know they'll be searching RMTs for a better price, and they don't care what anyone else thinks or says, so don't bother with them.

You can't completely solve the RMT problem, but you can fight against it, and help lower its impact. That's what EME is doing, and it's a great idea.

If I were EME and being unscrupulous and underhanded as I am, I would set up a fake RMT client who tries to sell cheaper Chronoscrolls just so I could perma-ban anyone who used the site.

I have and I enjoyed it. Obviously having the best gear gives an edge but me not having the best gear has not ruined my experience at all. My gear doesn't save me when I dip away from a BAM stomping on my head. I do.

Chronoscrolls is not a solution because when somebody buys in game gold, they want it NOW. They don't want to play the market and watch the value of the item they just bought tank as everybody undercuts each other to sell theirs first. Gold Buyers = Crack Fiends.

Sell the gold straight up and legally, it puts a big fat dent in the illegal market.
