While hanging out on the server screen I wanted to see the updated list of people responsible for making Tera what it is today. Unfortunately I've noticed that FGT and CPE players are not in the "Special Thanks To" list.
I feel this isn't too much to ask as we were called "Grass-roots" of the community. With enough attention to this, I'd like us all to be honored and respected. To be able to go to our family members and friends to say "I'm a part of Tera". To know that we have done right in being there for the community and for En Masse.
With that said, let's history by being seen as a difference maker while En Masse and BH will be recognized even more for it's gratitude towards everyone.
Prepare for a flood of comments about they owe you nothing.
I'm sure they're thanking us in spirit. :D
Then what about us guys who weren't lucky enough to get into FGT and CPE? We get no credit for our emotional support? Helping out the flow of new forum browsers, so that Scapes or Bro mags or Tithus didn't need to answer every post with a question that's been answered 100 times?
Well, it's not really about being owed anything. His point is understandable, although in reality, I wouldn't expect to be given credit by name. That should really be reserved for the people who actually made the game. Plus, and this is no slight to any of the community event people - every tester will make a contribution to the game. Some more than others. Not really easy to pick and choose who was more "valuable".
But 1) Credits possibly aren't complete yet. 2) Even if they do add in a "thank you", it would possibly be to the community as a whole.
I've worked for Konami as a Game Tester and even though I've worked on 3 titles I've only seen my name in one of them. It's called un-credited work but I take pride in the fact that my work ensures that a future consumer doesn't have to put up with most of the things I've seen.
I'm coming from a billion year spent inside the Lineage2 community, it means hell on earth, armies of uncontrolled trolls, no customer support, a dumb and blind company like NCSoft.
For these reasons EME and Tera community ,just right now, felt to me like a return to civilization. Dunno if this gonna last when the game will grow.
I think , in this moment, they can be blamed of everything but lack of attentions towards players, grass-roots or not.
I guess they are overwhelmed by a gazzillion tasks for this launch, none of the less they didn't lose track of the community and customer services, with great communication and attention.
Don't be so harsh on them cos I'm sure early gaming players efforts have been appreciated as they should be.
