To be honest, I'd do the same if I was tanking, for weapons.

Armor?

A lancer's whole defense is on their shield, what does their armor do compared to holding down the RMB?

No matter how good you are, you can't block everything. Trash mobs are almost impossible to block if you're tanking many of them at once. And some bosses have attacks that come out fast with barely any warning and between the input lag in instances and the explosions and special effects of your team mates obstructing your view, they can be pretty hard to block. I'd say armor is at least as important as the weapon. Not saying kicking a party member for it is acceptable, though.

Edit: Forgot to say this, but also, the amount of MP drained when you block an attack depends on your defense. So better armor means you spend less MP, which is important.

Sounds like you've been grouped with terrible Lancers.

Dunno. Could be. But a Lancer who gets hit occasionally still sounds better than one that puts up his shield and goes to sleep and ends up losing aggro. At the very least, the ones I partied with could keep aggro and there were no deaths in those runs.

blame EME for having only one effective tank class at launch. they created this entitled environment for lancers.

I think its funny that people continue to use LFG systems instead of bonding with a guild. GG

This is not a valid argument, some of us play at odd hours or during graveyard shifts when there is no one or almost no one on, or maybe no one in your guild is close enough to your level to do dungeons with, or maybe you want to go guildless entirely. LFG is a good tool, the solution isn't "find a guild" if you don't like it, there needs to be ways to punish people is all.

A vote to kick feature would go a long way so long as it takes 3/5 votes with no cooldown whatsoever.

I'm very sorry to hear people have had bad experiences with lancers acting like jerks. It does kinda give all of us who play a lancer a black eye.

But I'd also urge non-lancers to not throw every lancer under the bus~ we're not all like that.

Having fun, meeting new people or spending time with guildies, experiencing neat dungeons, and playing nicely with others are the only things important to me when I group. I don't care about loot and would never kick someone for such a stupid reason as 'oh noes i might have competition for loot'. It's just a game. Have fun people. =^.^=

Of course, some lancers are great, some are complete jerks, but they'd be jerks on any class character. It just so happens that lancer supplies them with more leverage. I've been lucky and played with really nice lancers.

Party loot can be set, to be given out to the proper class first, so lancers can always get the lance/shield set which is the only thing that really matters, and heavy armor is only rolled on if a berserker is present.

Armor is less important, and can be gained easily, through crafting or multiple runs anyway. So the really big drop for lancers, is usually a 100% chance in parties run by functional people.
Dropping party due to the CHANCE of missing out is asinine, you may run into a berserker who already has the piece, or has better. If you don't get it, go back in. that's how these games work.

My guild group and I, try to put together parties where loot rolls don't clash, but if we get a pug that clashes, we deal with it. We understand how long it took that poor berserker to get in. By the time cherry pick a DPS, via the queue, we could have been halfway through the dungeon.

Try playing WoW, where my paladin had to compete with 8-15 paladin, hunters, warriors, and sometimes even rogues and shaman for "best in slot" gear in most raids.

Why would assume that all lancers are bad because you met a few bad ones.

Do you guys do this in real life? So being racists towards classes are ok? So what you met a bunch redneck jerks, why would you assume they are all are? Does our American history of enslavement teach us nothing about judgement?

Who's worse, the lancer who kicked someone for selfish reasons? Or the one who assumes that all African Americans, oops i mean lancers, are bad?

If I could count how many times I've been kicked from groups I was invited to because whilst they were looking for DPS, a Lancer chimes in and the Warrior tank (me), is kicked almost immediately because, "lancers are better tanks".

I don't care if there's a patch coming in September that fixes this. It's happened multiple times so far and I've never even wiped in an instance yet, and I'm up to Necromancers Tomb.

I hate Lancers. I hate them with a passion.

Confirmation Bias - Tendency for people to favor information and evidance that confirm their beliefs.

Quick example. When you wash your car, it rains. There are actually more times when you wash your car and it remains sunny, but because it happened before, people actually believe it rains when they wash their car.

Zimbardo experiment. The experiment took place in 1971 at Stanford. People split their roles into prison guards and prisoner. Even though the students participating knew it was an experiment, the students who took the role of prison guards made the prisoners beat each other and do sexual acts. EME gave the power of the guards to Lancers. It isn't that the people PLAYING Lancers are bad, the power given to them makes them act bad. It will happen to anyone.

as a rerolled lancer couldn't stand 2hour ques on my 60slayer i knew going in that people might treat me bad with all the hate the class has been getting lately but i wouldn't say i'm nicest person you'll meet but i try to be friendly when i join in LFG and i'm totally find with rolling with zerkers hell i lost my roll in SG today but i doesn't bother me because i can easily just run it again till it drops

i don't know why but no matter how bad my group is going i just can't find myself to leave when i want to because i know the times people have to wait to in is so bad i went through it too is that wired? anyways ill be getting this guy to 60 within a few days so if anyone on jagged coast is looking for lancer to run stuff feel free to add Aoi.k :).
