Not really understanding Sub prices.

I have yet to start playing Tera, but when I go to subscribe it says that it will be $14.95 a month, however, I've read posts that say if you join in the 1st month it's 40% off the sub price and that price locks for the remainder of the time in which you play. Am I not understanding or is it after the first 30 days free that they switch it over to the 40% off price, can someone explain it to me how this works?

it's UP TO 40% off if you sub by May 30th.

When you purchase the game you get 30 days of free play time after you set up a subscription plan.
If you sign up before the end of the month, you get up to 40% off of your subscription price.

A month to month sub is not subject to any kind of discount. Further, for the non-month subs, you pay a bulk price up front, not a reduced price every month.

Ah, okay, I understand; so the discount is based on the subscription chosen.

Copy that, thanks.

I'm pretty sure the discount only applies to when you buy it before June 1st. For instance, you can buy 5 years at $107.40x5; but if you buy 1 year at $107.40 and wait a year for your sub to run out, you will have to pay $119.40/year starting June 1st. At least, that is how it is worded since you will only be setting up an x amount of a set subscription before June 1st.

I talked with a GM about this previously. As long as you don't cancel your service, if you have a year sub plan (or whatever type of length plan that has a discount), you will always have the inaugural subscription pricing each time it renews. If you cancel and start back up ,then you go to the regular rate.

This ^

It's up to 40% off. If you go month by month it's still $14.99 per month.

3 month sub = 20% off (14% off normally)
6 month sub = 34% off (27% off normally)
Yearly sub = 40% off (34% normally)

The discounts are just incentives to commit to longer term subscriptions (and the inaugural pricing isn't really that much different than the normal pricing; yearly you would only save about $10 versus the standard yearly pricing). However, going for the longer term plans in general does save you quite a bit (3 month plan for a year costs about $144 vs yearly which costs $108). It's just that the inaugural doesn't make a huge difference (yearly inaugural is $108 vs yearly standard which costs $120)

If you know you are going to be playing this a good amount for the next year or so, then definitely look at getting the yearly sub. If you are unsure, I would go with the 3 month and then switch over to the yearly standard if you think you will play that long (144 inaugural 3 month for a year then becomes 120 for yearly standard). Really depends if you are looking to go short term or long term on this game.

And yes, you have to pay for the longer term subscriptions up front when payment time comes (it doesn't charge you month by month, but all at once). Some people have asked about this before, so I figured I would throw it out there right now in case you were wondering.

Another important thing to understand TrueLeader is that your subscription will only pay for server access.

Don't make.. the same.. mistake.. I made..
