When a noob (not newb) asks a question in general chat; do you give a response if you know the answer? If you do respond with a knowledgeable answer, do you criticize the noob for even asking? Do you snidely tell the noob, who asked if sorcerors ever get a self-heal, to ask the magic trainer myself and not bother others?

This is my experience with this game so far. The foregoing were just the latest examples; most questions in LFG (which in most games turns into a chat channel) are ignored unless you are one of the LFG Superstars.

So, the reason I am leaving at the end of 30 days is not because of game-play (which I find entertaining), it is because this community appears to have a high percentage of people who are complete a-holes.

Now, some of you may say "Join a Guild." Of course, that was an option, but I never join a guild in a new (to me) game until 30 days have passed so I can make up my own mind about things, and try to figure things out for myself.

In any event, to those of you who are not a-holes, this post is not for you. The Devs have come up with a novel approach to MMOs and have very clever writers; unfortunately, they attracted an immature group.

Based on the accounts of your experiences i guessed that you were playing on a pve server.
Looking at your posting history i discovered that you were indeed playing on a pve server.

Let this be a lesson, pve servers are where the people who are afraid of being held accountable for their actions play.

It's the same in every online game I have ever played.

I suggest you go for Nintendo games in future.

Or play on a low pop server, Freeholds seems devoid mostly of idiots.

I don't hang out in LFG chat, as it's all alienware garbage on JC. Area chat gets like that too, but not all the time. I do answer questions all the time as people had answered mine when I asked them so I return the favor.

Well its also time of the day. In the daytime you should just ignore lfg, i lfg at night though, on my server, is a great place to discuss things like zombie tables and whether elins are traps or not. Some may scoff at those pressing questions, but i scoff at them! The point is people asking random game questions in LFG usually get them answered on my server. Because we are polite perverted sociopaths.

Just turn chat off easily solved and use google to research no need to let others spoil your fun. If you enjoy the game play it your not forced to chat to people and if people are rude just ignore them and move on. I mainly play with friends and dont even bother with chat. The only time i look at lfg or area is when i am chilling out if its crap talk i get back to questing.

What does "being held accountable" have to do with not answering questions in LFG? Your post makes absolutely no sense. Typical PvP elitists who get their self worth from a game.

@OP, the LFG channel has become such a troll play ground that a lot of people have turned it off. I would suggest getting in a good guild before you give up on a game that you seem to enjoy. You are dealing with the dregs of your server when you post random questions on LFG.

I agree completely.

There is something about Tera's community that makes it more toxic than even that of WoW. People are just...angrier, and I don't know why.

A guild is your only shelter from the storm, really.

My guess is that you are either on Dragonfall or Arachnaea. Typically in the more populated servers, you will elicit a response like that quicker because of how many more trolls flock to the servers that are more full. Try a server transfer and look into a less populated server like Frost Reach....
