Here is life at max level in this game:

6) Run for Vanarch which is a thankless, worthless, and unrewarding job
8) Random world pvp or GVG with no purpose or reward

Isn't this like saying "Well if I don't get something out of it then it is not rewarding for me"? Do you get any rewards skateboarding? There is no money, there is no praise, but it is fun?

The game is the same. If you enjoy PvP you enjoy PvP, the lack of reward shouldn't deter you from it.

As for vanarchs... well maybe some people just like seeing their guild icon pop up whenever they enter the zone. Or want to spam everyone with Vanarch chat as if it was facebook update queue? Why do rewards have to be external? as opposed to personal enjoyment.

On BC the number of guilds running for Vanarch has severely gone down since the first election and some of the ones that did run are upping their tax rate this time around. While players do enjoy the political system and on our server there are a lot of things going on with the political system - fun election events and vanarch run events and politcally motivated GvG battles, etc. That doesn't mean the system is ok. My guild has Veritas District (the town of Bastion and the level 60 zone that contains the BT instance). At 1% tax rate we barely made any money in a zone as busy as that, especially when you want to run events that give out cash rewards to players, and the huge amount of daily grinding to even be able to keep open all the shops and vendors is not quite worth the reward of getting a horse and getting your name out there. That is why a lot of guilds are not doing it. People would like there to be more.

As for random world PvP with no purpose or reward, I think PvP is fun. But a lot of players need a reward and at least on my server, there is not a very lively OwPvP community. Many players would prefer a reason to go PvP and be out there all the time so yes, this game does need something to entice more people to go out and PvP other players and guilds and declare GvGs (although the GvG system does need to be reworked). And I personally would like something to give us a reason to PK anyone and everyone instead of just people we don't like. I would love to PK anyone but other people don't like that apparently, so we need something for those players to go gain by PKing people so everyone feels ok doing that. That alone would get a lot of people out there PvPing all the time.

Because the last 5 years in MMO gaming has been superficial at best. New shinies! These monkies have been trained that if they aren't upgrading gear every month, or they aren't advancing in levels, that there is nothing to do.

It doesn't surprise me that someone that has the attitude of the OP, can't get any enjoyment out of persistent GvG against a rival guild that may be competing with you for tax revenue on the server.

Very limited tunnel vision. Can only see 2 feet in front of themselves. A complex and in depth Political System that has the power to change a guilds buying power in the market place - allowing them to purchase the best crystals, the most enchant fodder, therfor becoming the most powerful.

Just like any super power. This is a struggle for money and control of money, and control of the goods money can buy.

Only a keyboard drooler would say this game has 0 depth.

Here is life at max level in this game:

1) Run the same dungeons a billion times
2) Enchant the gear you got to +9 or +12
3) Farm thousands upon thousands of gold for step 2
4) Grind rep from dailies to get better jewelry and zyrks
5) Do ToT a million times for glyphs
6) Run for Vanarch which is a thankless, worthless, and unrewarding job
7) Do Nexus for rep which is a horrid lagfest and grind
8) Random world pvp or GVG with no purpose or reward

This game at 60 just plain sucks. It really does.

I think this game is quite fun at 60.

1. This has happened in every MMO I have every played. Ever. No company will release new content fast enough to stay ahead of the upper end of the player curve. Those players will be repeating the top end dungeons 10s or 100s of times. That is the current MMO world. If you don't like this, I don't see how you like MMOs. As much as I would like to see a new dungeon launched every week, I doubt many companies have the resources to manage it, and honestly, I am quite fun with running what instances we have and getting perfectly geared up for the next tier of content when it hits. Heck, gear up an alt while you're at it.

2. Again, this is something similar to every MMO. There is always some gold/time sink to make your weapons the best of the best. Enchanting/Reforging/Runes, whatever you want to call it. The one think I like about the TERA system is it's not quite as mindless/easy as most of the big MMOs these days. In WoW, you grab your weapon, reforge it for a static gold cost, slap the BiS enchant on and off you go. In TERA it actually means something to work your way up to +12. You certainly don't "need" it by any stretch of the imagination at this point, but it is something to work for. Believe it or not, lots of us enjoy things that we have to work hard for.

3. Every MMO ever. Name one MMO where I didn't have to farm gold. Heck even in most console RPGs you have to farm gold. Gold farming is part of the fantasy game. It is a staple and it is here to stay. I enjoy it. It keeps you from earning things too fast, keeps things from being hand fed to you.

4. Rep grinds are pretty standard as well. I am not personally a huge fan of the reputation grind myself, but there is something again to the joy of having that far off goal that you can slowly work towards. Even though I don't like rep grinding personally, I think it has its place and adds to the flavor of the game, I would not want it to go away.

5. Essentially the same response as q1.

6. I do believe there is not much real point to Vanarch at this moment. I think Vanarchs need a lot more actual in game power to make the position worth while. Won't argue this point.

7. Nexus needs some work, but it's no more of a "grindfest" than anything else.

8. Half the fun of PvP is the PvP itself. Lots of people PvP for no reward. Why do you think people keep playing PvP when they have all the best gear and rewards for their characters? It's fun. It has already been stated that more rewarding PvP is on it's way, till then at least you have something to enjoy instead of nothing,

Wow, someone makes a thread with a legitimate complaint and all the fanboys come out of the woodwork. If you don't agree with him, say it and move, they have a right to their opinion and just because yours is different doesn't mean the thread should be locked.

I also need to learn to not call names.

another follower, don't you see this guy is just looking for attention, what? didn't your mommy gave you enough? making a second thread with the same tittle is just play dumb.

But a lot of players need a reward and at least on my server.

The OP's title is Why is Nothing at 60 fun. Which I pointed out he seems to equate reward with fun. Fun should be internal and not solely, though reward helps, on what tangible loot you get at the end.

As for Vanarch :) A friend of mine on DragonFall absolutely now hate one guild (I believe it is fairy tales) because they let the town go to the crapper. On the other hand he daily praises another (I believe it is Something Terrible) who maintained the region to full capacity. To this end he refuses to help anyone from the guild he hates, does not party with them at all. I think he is taking the political system too seriously, but if everyone is like him then the vanarch system would work fine. Plus, IMHO It is more about bragging rights than a red horse that is goes faster.

TL;DR: MMOs are highly player based, so half the problem is the player base and not entirely the system's problem.

actually vanarchs don't get [filtered] for gold from elections. We have to keep it at 1% taxes or our server [filtered]es at us and we lose all credibility and rep as a guild. It's more for prestige than anything at the moment to be Vanarch. The reward isn't really worth it at all, so it's either don't run or waste time because we'll be exiled from the server otherwise pretty much. God help guilds if they don't put up shops and trainers.
