I leveled as fast as I could to get to 60 in order to PvP, then I found out that it would take massive grinding to even get gear, in a game that should be based on skill, to even be viable to compete. The gear grinding at end game breaks the game for me (at least for pvp, for pve I couldn't care less as it gives you something to look forward to when you are running the dungeons over and over because you are bored lol, in pvp it just kind of gimps you... no wait it turns you into a punching bag, and not even a very good one lol).
In my opinion they should have released our version with a better PvP system already attached to it, customized and fine tuned for competitiveness. They should have castles and other structures strung out across the world of TERA for guilds to capture and fight over and a formal matchmaking system that puts players on equal footing gear wise (to focus more on competitiveness of skill rather than competing for who has the best gear; or at least have a switch in the matchmaking settings when you setup a match for "scaled" pvp or something...). If they would have launched with a few adjustments like these the game would have been so awesome.
Problem is: EME probably has almost no control over new/future content development (they have very limited control, which allows them to change whats already there a bit here and there as we have already seen; which is how it is with most games that get localized sadly enough) and they get stuck as the middleman between us and the devs (and in games like these that are localized the devs don't usually give a [filtered] about the rest of the world...).
I mean the potential is there if they want to make use of it, but then again that's true for many games I know; they just choose not to make it into something great... or maybe its dem garden gnomes again =/
