Too bad this is futile; if a player was going to hit 60 during head start, they are going to hit 60 during the first month regardless of this restriction. All this does is lower opinions of Enmasse's ability to manage the game and decrease the potential they actually become recurring subscribers.


Agreed. People think they hardcore players won't hit the level cap in a week. Regardless of head start being capped at 38, they WILL hit 60 by the end of the week or next. All you are doing is stepping on the people who pre-ordered and supported your game, hoping to maybe be ahead of the zerg of levelers coming in for launch.

The way it's set up right now is I would hit 38 on the weekend when I do not have work, then release launches during the week (then I am at work). I'll get home tues and suddenly I am stuck in the mass of launch people who played open beta but never pre-ordered. The headstart would have served no purpose (seeing as you can hit 32-38 in 4 hours) and the pre-order was for nothing. Whereas if there was a higher cap (say 45) or none at all, I could hardcore all weekend and hit 45+, giving me a good head start until thurs/friday, maybe even into the weekend.

where is this quote from? it seems to have just magically appeared in this thread, I can't find the original post for that.

I would not be complaining if the OB cap was 24 and the headstart cap was as it is at 38. 6-level headstart just seems illogical.

It's not a real quote. It's people thinking they're smart enough to trick everyone pretending EME actually said that. Obviously EME cares about their customers and aren't trying to do this so people pay more.

You can easily still reach 60 within the first month and cancel sub if someone wishes to do so.

Keep in mind that they're doing this as a favor. Their goal with OBT is to win the support of newcomers. Do you really think newcomers will think this company is fair if you're 50 levels above them, killing them in one normal attack hit? Do you really think they'll stay? You know how the game works already. You know how everything is done. You know that you want to play this game already. They don't need to worry about you. The content is coming, you've already given your support. You can take away your support, but if you're gonna do that just because you can't be a top leveled player while everyone else is level 5, then you're better off playing a broken game like WoW or whatever, and we're better off without you in our community.

winning the support of newcomers?

first of all, if they roll on a pvp server in OB, they will be griefed on first day already. you don't need 50 level difference - 5 level difference and 1 combo from any class will kill you.

having a premature cap like this will ensure that people will hit it earlier, and get bored, then start killing/griefing for fun. i already pointed this out in an earlier post.

you sound like someone who got ganked one too many times in CBT.

Wrong. Most people are NOT upset about open beta cap. It's a reasonable way for people to test out the game before buying it.

Head start is the problem. You pre-ordered the game in hopes of playing early and getting ahead of the leveling curve, but the way it's set up now you can hit 38, go to work/school on tuesday and suddenly you are BEHIND the leveling curve. 32-38 is FOUR HOURS of game play. NOT a head start. Not even a foot out the door ahead of the people who played open beta and did NOT pre-order.

So instead lets cap it so when poeple finish leveling in under a day they can just log in to play an alt right? Oh wait theres a character limit of 1 per account. Guess I'm going to be sitting in lumbertown 1 shotting everyone I see. How does this help newcomers again?

The vast majority of players will not make it to even 32 more or less 38.



Advertises game as player skill based, caters to those without skill. Makes sense to me.

*Also, remove cap for pre-orders then.
