If EME were a normal business the way that this "reward" was handled would make me move my business elsewhere.

I'm not the only person who is extremely offended that the time I have been playing this game (over 2 years) the money (hundreds of dollars) and the effort I have put into the community (being a guild leader, teaching and helping other players) is less noteworthy than the many people I know who have received this mount.

Many people who are trolls, have been banned, people who play less and have spent less money than myself were rewarded and I have effectively been told that their "contribution" is more important than my own.

I don't care about the mount, it looks terrible, but I do care that EME has basically told me that I am not a valued customer. Well if you don't value my business then I'm sure you wont miss it when it's gone.

This little event has been a massive failure on EME's part, both in terms of the communication and the way they selected the prize winners. It's not at all about the mount itself anymore, it's about the people who actively make an effort to contribute to the community and help people on a daily basis, and who basically got told to "go [filtered] yourself, you're not good enough" by EME. The 99% got something from this too, a giant middle finger.

When I logged in last night, a guildie asked me if I got a mount. I said no, and had no idea what he was talking about. I was told that EME was giving away mounts, so naturally I came to the forums to see how to get one. I then saw the criteria for getting a mount, as well as Treeshark's post mentioning the "1%". I was immediately offended and confused as to why I wasn't one of the players who were chosen. I have:

Collector's Edition
Founders
Been here since shortly after release
Around 100 days playtime across my 6 60's
Top 50 in 3's/Fraywind
Around 6 months of Elite
$100 of EMP spent (roughly)
Have organized small in-game events
Active contributor on the forums
Make an effort to help anyone and everyone
Genuinely nice person
(Would be an active streamer, but I play on a toaster)

Apparently none of this was good enough to be counted among the 1%, and I'm sure there are many others like me who got indirectly told to go [filtered] myself. It would have been much better if EME didn't release the criteria, or better yet made the event purely based on RNG. Again, I'm not upset simply because I didn't get a mount, I'm upset because EME told me that all the effort I've put into TERA over the last few years is not appreciated.

That's essentially the problem with what EME has done. They drew a line, and everyone on the left side of the line IS appreciated, while everyone on the right side of the line IS NOT appreciated.

You're putting words into their mouths to fit your emotional reaction to not being in the upper percentile. They never said you weren't appreciated.

Your play time and amount spent are minute in comparison to a number of others, which would take you out of the running for upper percentile. The contributions, depending on individual criteria for the contributions, could be viewed as limited in comparison to quite a few other contributors.

You didn't make the cut for a reward, you're stung, that doesn't mean that nobody cares about you.

Our intent with this giveaway was to reward a small number of players with something exclusive, not to make the players who didn't get a mount feel devalued. Ultimately that is what we did due to our poor communication and opaque rules. We are committed to constant improvement - sometimes through learning from our mistakes. The way we plan on fixing this is to develop a set of transparent criteria that would qualify a player for getting a reward like this (and potentially more cool stuff). Once these rules are established we will publish them here. Many and most of you have made significant contributions to the TERA community and we humbly thank you for your passion.

The idea itself was kindhearted, to give those who had contributed to the community the most some sort of prize. The execution and wording of the give-away was the downfall of the entire plan. Citing instances of community outreach would have helped credibility as would have announcing it formally.

Also "EME was a stupid meanie-face" has been said a number of times. You're just inciting the wrath of Minea.


You see comments like that make me think *how do you value a players worth*?

Do you look at account age, dollars spent, elite customer etc eg: someone has played since CB1 they bought the collectors edition, paid while the game was P2P, subbed continuously since the game went F2P, has spent large amounts of dollars in the cash shop over that time *$1000's not $100's*?

OR. . . . . . . .

Do you look at what transactions an account has completed over the past month, disregard account age, previous dollars spent, payment while the game was P2P, payment for elite status etc?

A short sighted person would look at the newer player spending the large dollars the long running customers has already spent and think them more valuable. The long sighted person would look at that as OK the long running customer has been with us since day dot and is a guaranteed $100 per month. The newer player has every chance of doing what we longer playing customers has done and that is burning out and payments falling.

An astute business person would NEVER denigrate a huge proportion of the people who are paying for the meal he sits and eats each night. Yes you pay your rent and live off the dollars we the people you have just UNDER VALUED spend on your game. In all my years of gaming I have never seen a gaming company so openly tell so many people that they need to open their wallets wider or get out of the playing field.

You need to fix this glaring oversight before we can give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you will fix the problem. I am sincere in saying I will never spend another dollar on TERA unless you resolve this by giving ALL YOUR VALUED CLIENTS the mount. The longer you just feed us meaningless words you validate our worthlessness to you.

I know what you mean and I'm one of the people who has spent hundreds on this game and been around since CBT. I was only saying that I understand what EME was thinking, not that I agree with it. Nor am I saying those who didn't get a mount shouldn't feel jilted. I definitely do.
