In the original article, it uses the term "reward points" and " Reward credits":

From how it sounds, reward points will be spendable points for various items, and reward credits will be some form of progression to higher reward tiers, but here's where it gets confusing:

"Reward Tier 10: [...] a bundle of Reward Credits, and an increase to daily Reward Credit allotment (60)"

Why would someone want reward credits, if they're already at max reward tier? I was under the impression that reward credits were the points towards getting a higher tier. Does the description mean reward points(the stuff you use to buy stuff)?

Also, it says reward points are earned by playing the game or spending real money. But then it says you get reward credits by spending money and doesn't mention by playing. Can you progress tiers by playing, or is that strictly through spending money?

Reward points raise your tier, reward credit are the currency to buy things.

I am slightly unsettled by emp purchases influencing reward tiers. I understand the logic behind it. But I feel like this is the first step into the p2w direction. Too soon to tell.

I think it's more of a thank you for spending money on this game and helping us keep it alive. I do think that emp after should NOT apply. But I don't think it's a move towards p2w, I'm seeing it as a thanks for spending money with our customers. It's like dominoes rewards. Buy enough pizza's and get a free pizza. Doesn't mean people are gonna go nuts and buy 100 pizzas to get free pizzas. It's just a nice thanks for spending your hard earned money. A metric [filtered] ton will disagree with me, but that's how I see it.

I also agree with your point of emp purchases after the system is released not being applicable. But Tera has some whales now emp sellers have more incentive they double on both the money and their reputation credits will make it more rewarding for swipers. You also notice that that there is no cap on the amount of credits you can get out of emp. So this makes it all the more appealing to the masses to spend emp. While it isn't so bad, this more of a gateway. I'm just sad to see that it's coming to this. :(

What I'm hoping, (and spacecats and denom please please pay attention to this), is that they monitor the emp sales to hopefully put a limit in place if that does come to pass.
