[POLL] LFD, how will it affect you?

Yea you're right.

Those .1% for flight paths and TP scrolls is the money sink in TERA.

Killing frimbasiliks at level 27, they drop 15k gold.

Running the instance once will more than make up the cost of the scroll.

That's not a sink. A sink is desinged to remove money from the game. Those do nothing of the sort.

The enchanting system in TERA is the money sink. It truly does lower your wealth trying to upgrade your gear.

Please, just stop talking.

... how does that not remove money from the game? once you buy it from the vendor / FP, you no longer see that money again... It goes straight to the game and you will never see it again.

that is 10,500g each dungeon you run. you run 100 dungeons, that 1,050,000g. That number is pretty big. Multiply that by hundreds of players doing the same, it is a big sink. It helps control the economy... Just look at WoW if you want to see what happens when you no longer control your economy through money sinks.... everyone will have 900m g without them and everything will be worthless. You HAVE to have a money sink in a game. this may be .1% each time you use them, but it adds up over time, espeically when a lot of people use them.

The argument could be made that every dungeon you run can net you 100k gold, it's not a money sink because it effectively makes your money back for you.

The thing is though that instead of having a profit of 100k you now have a profit of 89.5k gold. Even that small number easily cuts at the gold farm, because you are sinking 10.5k into every single time you use a scroll. Plus there's the cost of scrolling back to town which is another x amount of gold.

Personaly I thought it would be nice if LFD had a Fee to use. Think of it as paying an NPC for finding a group for you. (agent). Price would be based on Players Lvl. OR if gold is too easy to come by, then some type of Item...

Like a special token given for doing Repeatable quests....

Valk Token
Egg
Kaia Binding
LFG Token.

- OR - Even let the LFD eat Eggs as the currency.

This would insure people going out to farm tokens (quest repeatables) for OW-PvP

And still allow thoses to LFD/Quest at the same time, without sitting in a City.

I think it would be a win/win for both groups. PvE and PvP players

Yes, creating a tool that provides convenience to players.

Then inconveniencing them by requring them to do a repeatable for an item.

Or charging a fee that scales with their level, while TP scrolls scales inversely with their level.

I am glad you do not design games. Or maybe you were the lead dev of FF14. Who knows.

You keep bringing up the convenience thing. When were games supposed to be the most streamlined easy and convenient thing ever? It's a game, it's made to be difficult.

You say "Convenience"
I say "Cakewalk"

Plus how many Eggs for example have you piled up just doing quests 1 - 27?

Personaly I just sell the damn things.... Since I dodge out of the way of most attacks.

This Fee would help get people out of cities and not Instance Grind all the way up to max lvl (yes it is possible)

Filling the World of Tera with even more players questing / ow-pvping those repeatable quest spots (which there are many of them in the world).

It is everything to do with simple, non-complex.
Easy
Cakewalk
convenient

All of them. Games are supposed to challenge you. If they weren't, there would be no point in playing them. All games challenge you in some way or form. It is what makes them interesting. You cannot tell me making things easier is 'challenging'. You also cannot tell me it is 'inconveniencing' them. They are playing a GAME. it is not supposed to be like real life. They are a way to challenge you and your mind. If they didn't, we wouldn't have a point to them.

WoW has become nothing but a cheap laugh. There is nothing left but raiding and BGs. Its OW has been dead since BC due to lack of incentives. Its dungeons are basically single player since the people you go with don't even talk and they are so damn easy an 8 yr old can do them without any trouble. When game companies give their customers an edge on something to convenience them, they try to take a mile. Blizzard let it's customers get their mile, and look at the results. A once amazing game is falling prey to itself. One wrong move, they lose hundreds of thousands of subs.

There becomes a limit where convenience =/= good. Fast Food like McDonalds is perfect. So is automating every last thing we do. There is a limit to everything. LFD crosses that limit. It might not be an upfront cause of things, but it will contribute to problems. I just hope EME has weighed everything before making whatever decision they came to on how to impliment their LFD. Whether they choose cross server, no cross server, teleport or not. I just hope they make a good decision that they can stand by and not listen to everyone cry afterwords.

Because I also know this: Should they put in LFD cross-server and such, I wont be saying they made a wrong choice. It is their choice. I know what will happen if they put LFD no cross-server though. Everyone including Daays, Tormeanted, protomon, and many more will start complaining and try to get their way... I just hope that EME will take a stance and stand by it, unlike some certain other companies >.>

TL;DR please, GTFO.

"Back in my day it took us hours to find the right amount of people to form a group.

Then we had to walk 15 miles uphill both ways before we even found the entrance to the dungeons.

Then had to clear 5 hours worth of mobs outside the dungeon before we could enter.

Then it took us hours upon hours of trash clears before 1 boss.

It was a simplier time. A better time..."

All joking aside, if you feel that forming a group is "challenging", then I have a ball you can bounce. See how many times you can bounce it.

I'm sorry you had it so hard back in the early days of MMORPG's. Maybe you should go play them instead of these new-gen games. They clearly aren't meant for you.
