Well, the pet system in this game is very lame. All they are for is for setting up personal shops. They dont follow you around, really? En Masse, make sure you add instructions to the help menu for pets as there is no place discussing how pets work in your game. If I knew they were just for personal shops ( had to look up on google) I wouldn't have wasted 63000 gold buying one, I could of spent it on other things in beta....
Forgot to add..personal shops in a game with auction house makes zero since! Put your crap on an auction house dont set up shop....just a dumb mechanic.....

You can turn the shops off.

As an Elin Mystic, I use my pet in battle ALL the time. It's much better for my pet to have aggro, rather then myself.
Also, you've apparently never played games like Perfect World International. It has a server-wide auction house, and a personal shop. What's the difference? Personal shops cost zero, auction houses have fees, and time limits. Personal shops you can set your own prices, even if they're slightly higher then auction house, and generally get them because of ease of access.
For future reference, please use constructive criticism, and not just pointing out things you dislike, as En Masse has posted over and over in multiple threads.

Oricul I believe he was talking about novelty pets, ones you buy and just have follow your around(atleast in most games).
The difference is coming into an area with all the stupid personal shops up, it causes lag and is unnecessary when you have an auction house. Choose one or the other, no need to cater to both. I will turn them off in the future, thank you Slubber.
Yes as an elin you have the pet..that's not what I'm talking about! And where do you get off saying I didnt add constructive criticism?? I said what to do to fix the issue, and I also commented my dislike..read again kind sir or mam!
Maybe if En Masse would add a suggestion section, we could gather our thoughts there....eh

The good thing about the personal shops though is that you don't have to pay tax. That comes into play with the political system though, which isn't in the beta.
Hopefully you have a max number of personal shops that can be put up at a time inn a given area such as in a 1000 foot by 1000 foot area. If you limit the amount as well as how tightly packed they are you might be able to eleaviate the lag issue of having so many active at the same time. Also i hope the personal shops are only able to be active while you are actively online in game, and that they go down when you log off game, as i remeber playing afew games that did not have that feature. It was a nightmare to see entire towns overrun by persal shops regardless of who was oneline or not.

Personal shops definitely have uses in games with a Broker. Aion has both a Broker and Personal shop. People will sell anything really in their shop, but often it's used for more expensive items. If you're selling something for a lot, you don't really want to put it on the broker because you'd pay a hefty broker fee and it's not even guaranteed it'd sell.

It's also a lot easier than spamming trade chat all night for that kind of thing. Put up a shop and forget about it.
