I think an alternative would be to make all armors sacrificable on the remodeler (just like our current templates work) and make the old templates just go into that locked armor-costume slot we have on our character's window, making them permanent. That way, templates can still be ridicolously expensive if the developer really like that gold sink.

I wish any 'white' quality armor counted as a template. I was disappointed when I found that wasn't the case. Levels 30-35 I was stuck with an awful looking robe, but I wasn't going to shell out 30g on a template to change it.

Why Yes I thought it was witty because unlike the other female aman running around my server I haven't seen any that look like me BUT HEY LET'S not use logic since I personally got my LW high enough to use a suit that I made to overwrite my ugly [filtered] suit.

Not only that there are munsell dye kits which also help with your customizing.
There are some really cool armor models out there in the world of Tera. Why should we have to be stuck wearing an armor Model not as cool as 3 tiers ago? I, along with a few of my guildies, would love to have the ability to use any armor as a template for our t12/t13 armor and weapons. It will create diversity among level 60s (not to say there isn't) but also give players the ability to customize there look to exactly what they want. If you feel the same way about it go ahead and sign this thread. Let's make it happen!

Another possibility would be the option to craft templates.

I didn't play DC Online beyond the beta, but I remember how awesome it was that you could reskin any item in the game as long as you had it in your inventory at one time. It was free and required no NPC.
I doubt any Korean game would ever match this because it would eliminate a timesink, but gotdang it would be sweet...*shrugs*
