Playing Lancer makes me want to cut myself and kick babies.

No windows of opportunity to SB+SA combo, or even onslaught?

Oh those opportunities arise but those moves do such miniscule damage that there's absolutely no point in wasting your time or mana to use them. Do I still use them? Sometimes if I'm feeling exceptionally bored but at this point it's so boring anyway that I typically omit them so I can watch something else while I tank.

As usual fanboys show up to avoid the issue.

1. Tanks can do competent damage and still allow for DPS to excel at it.
2. Competent AAA titles have solo options for all classes. The only exception seems to be Asian mmorpgs, which haven't gotten the memo on mmorpg game design that was the entire last decade.
3. Lancers aren't fun outside of dungeons and parties. Once you hit level 40 or so, it will take obscene amounts of time to kill even the simplest of quest mobs, even with good gear. If you find taking ten minutes per quest mob group, you're a masochist, or a grind fan.

I don't see anyone asking for Tanks to suddenly top DPS charts, but an option for soloing comfortably isn't out of the question. Warriors have a DPS and tanking option, why not lancers?

To the forum contrarians who show up to all posts pertaining to things that people don't like:
If lancers were able to solo more effectively, it wouldn't ruin the game, it wouldn't unbalance anything (in fact lancers unable to solo well is an imbalance).

The sad thing is that they aren't fun in dungeons or parties either.

You know what? I would honestly pay another $60 to get my class changed. That's how bad it is. ARE YOU READING THIS ENMASSE? I WOULD PAY YOU. TAKE MY MONEY.

My best friend plays a lancer in our personal questing group and he enjoys dungeons, but soloing is painful. Personal preference. I've tried it, and hate it all around as well.

He'll change his tune once he gets to 60. I enjoyed partying when I was still leveling too.

Have you tried to solo as a Mystic? With the thralls being useless/broken, it's a rather torturous, boring process with their only real consistant DPS being...their left-click attack. You'll be rather sick on holding the left mouse button by level 60. Priest solo isn't exactly fun either.

I understand they wanted to encourage grouping in this game, but reliably getting a group without a dedicated friend to play with has been unreliable at best for me. I often have to just abandon a lot of BAM quests. It would be nice it they evened out the classes ability to solo more. I'm not saying healers and tanks should be able to DPS like, well, DPS but the gap in mob killing power is simply painful. I've gotten my zerker alt cought up with my mystic in about half the time it took my mystic. I oneshot mobs and just laugh at how much faster it is to solo. I started a lancer, but stopped after 20 as soloing was reminding me FAR too much of my mystic. I will probably just wait for the warrior update and reroll that as my tank character.

I'll bite my tongue for now because I have 18 levels still to go, but why is it I somehow doubt that what are currently the best DPS moves at 42 somehow magically become bad by 60?

Part of the problem with Lancer mechanics is that overall far too much of the threat comes from just two abilities, shout & shield counter. You can keep threat just fine just doing those two basic moves, which is mind numbingly simple.

Glyphed Challenging Shout does 126,000 points of threat.
Glyphed Shield Counter does 60,000.

Spring attack does 20k.
Shield Barrage does 12k.
Onslaught does 1400 per hit.
