Im with you all the way but you might want to revise to say "random" things because the things you mentioned are not all apart of a number generator xD

I actually didn't mind WoW's system back in the BC days. Remember how hard it used to be to get Mongoose in Karazhan? That made it a rare thing and unique, but you had to work for it as well. Why not make the enchants scrolls that drop from certain bosses, yet make the drop rate real low on the cool stuff, and make some a bit higher so people can enjoy them (yet they aren't quite as cool)?

Of course, enchanting was a craft in WoW as well, which for some made the enchants even harder to come by.

The exp idea isn't a bad idea either - only issue there is you do want to have the "rare epicness" in there still, and I'm not sure that would cut it?

The current system is annoying IMO. You can go from +5 to +1 in no time. You can also get +5, and did absolutely nothing special to get there. It was all by chance.

The only people the current enchanting system will work well for are people who go out and grind for gold. The more money you have, the better your chances will be. Aion was like this as well. I just don't see how that's much fun at all. That's my opinion though.

I do have to admit, WoW did do professions right. Both Gathering (maybe not so much fishing...) and Crafting. Also having a limit on how many professions you coud have on one character, makes people specialize in a craft, thus add social links to players looking for said master.

Now I am talking about Vinilla and BC BTW. Wotlk and Cata everything in the game went down hill x_x

I honeslty think they already did westernize it a bit. Your gear does not break if you fail.

You have to work for it.

You have to work for RNG

Work...for something that no matter how much time I put into it. No matter how much I slave away, my effort I put into it, it doesn't matter.

Because at the end of the day it's still a random % chance to obtain your goal.

The amount of people who link working to RNG is scary.

The amount of people who believe we should be "working" in a game is even worse.

people think RNG is only whit number where they can't affect the result.

ALL stuff i mention above you have NO OPTION WHAT SO EVER to have it....

you have RNG in loot table
in Mob around you
in people playing around you

not all of them are number RNG, but they have all RNG in they action. people want NO rng, well remove all what i say and there you go XD

RNG is a bad nessessary for EndGame content or like people like me. i bought let say 20 powder, go farm for 2-3 hours, drop a few item and enchant while i play. NO RISK OF BREAK WEAPON = perfect for me... +1 or -1 doen't mather, i will arrive at +12 one day !

Edit : someone mention that boss could drop a scroll that enchant auto your weapon. again it RNG if you drop it or not, whtat the difference between farming a dungeon (about 1 hours to go and kill last boss) or to famr 1 hours and get more loot..

what the difference between someone who farm for getting there and someone who farm a TOTALY different way to get it... what people don't undersand is that RNG is everywhere. and we won't escape it !

ommgggggg yes lets all run around max level with fully enchanted gear. Lets go a step further and make items unlock-able per level instead of random drop too. Lets get rid of any and all things that would make gamers who put tons of time into the game (whether because they have no life or just like to play) stand out from everyone else. If you want a "westernized game" as you call it, go pre order Diablo 3 and play the westernized easy mode scrub-fest it has become.

@Daays I want to know if you can make an enchanting that require skill. Just asking, since you always say that "reward on dice roll rather than skill". What 'skill' that involve enchanting are you talking about?

On topic:
To be honest, I see in-game RNG as luck, it's all there is to it. If you're lucky then hooray. If not better luck next time. Pretty much like IRL. Everything or anything you want is a gamble.
If life would be so scripted and easy with no punishment, then how boring this world would be.

In game player will do anything to get that +12, even cheating it. Well guess what? it's the same thing outside the gaming world. We all know this. We understand how it works. And most of all, we know it sucks. Can you blame them? No, not really. They just want an advantage.

As for RNG Just look at it as a thrill. Don't think too much...

Also, just to be fair, no one can win anything with this kind of topic.
*if you want no RNG involve in it. Then it would make me the same as him/her.-Negative.
*if you want RNG, then the risk of failure and effort consumed along with it.-Negative.
*No enchants? No flavor, Boring, -Negative.

Players who are worried about RNG enchanting are mostly PvPers. Though i'll be rolling on a pvp server, i don't mind this feature.

Instead of arguing with co-players why 'this is better than that'. It would help EME if you could post a solution that both side would want like OP is suggesting.

Stay positive everyone.~

Well the future of both enchanting and crafting is "craft hero". But that's a ways off and big leap for most companies to implement.

But RNG enchanting isn't bad. Afterall, we have RNG elsewhere in the game with loot drops.

From my experience, people don't mind RNG. They mind when they fail for things beyond their control.

Which is where the blue dust comes in. Right now it reduces your chance to receive a -1 when enchanting. All that needs to be changed is that the blue dust 100% removes any chance to -1 your item.

Done.

RNG luck to enhance your gear kept
Option to remove the RNG luck to degrade your gear implemented
Economy saved, as blue dust isn't cheap

3 birds. 1 stone.
