Currently collecting dawnhide (and I presume the other types of leather) is very difficult. Especially trying to get 50 to level up crafting enough to actually begin making things. I am using the other crafting profession as a gauge for difficulty, gathering materials for leather working is far more difficult than any other profession. Not a little bit more difficult but a lot more.
1) Allow extracting to give you the base leather (ex. dawnhide) you need to be able to level. Right now it give you materials but those materials do you no good if you can't get to level 50 crafting in the first place.
2) All the level 1 monsters that run around to add atmosphere. Allow these to drop leather. That way gathering for leather would be similar to other professions.
Or even a skill to skin animals that leather would make sense to loot from. I agree, dawnhide drops seem really infrequent.
I got max level earlier this morning and then quickly started to work on professions. It took me 10-20 minutes to get my weaponsmithing to 100 and then decided to try leatherworking. After 50 minutes of grinding I realised that I had only gotten 2 leather. I even started farming mobs my own level to see how the leather farming was and after 30 minutes only got 1.
Seems a little broken that a lvl 32 cannot go back and get his leather working from 1-50 because mobs no longer drop items. Not to mention the fact that mobs your own level still drop them once in a blue moon anyways. Every other profession seemed pretty decent to level up.
Just my 2cents.
I support this. As a collective, my guild over the past two days have received only 32 dawn hides. That's seriously low compared to the hundreds of ore, essences and fibers.
Gotta agree. Maybe the drop rate is bugged.
This could be an economic decision, I doubt it, but it would be nice if there was some economy for lowbies.
Or put the mischief boxes back in the game. At least then you had a chance of increasing the number of hides you had. (Even though that chance seemed fairly low).
I like the drop-rate the way it is now. Leatherworkers will be appreciated and more rare because players can't max it out in a couple of hours and complain that it is too easy.
I grinded mobs nonstop for 11 levels and got 2 dawnhides. Don't you need like 50 of them just to reach a 50 skill level so you can make your first leather item?
I'm not sure if leatherworkers will appreciate that the way you're predicting.
