Yes I was aware, I was also aware at how utterly slow, cumbersome, gaudy and inefficient using them was, much like trade chat is now.

AH is here to stay, and will be a staple in every game to come. I'm sorry, times change. Novelty wears off.

Rather than complain about optional features that none of us HAVE to use, perhaps it would be better if we all focus on using only the tools that appeal to us and simply ignore the ones that don't (especially since both the trade chat channel and player shops could be hidden from view, and one is not required to ever see the auction house interface).

Just a thought. You know, live and let live, rather than going the route of generation-me where the entire world should be molded around what you personally like and don't dislike or can and can't find a use for.

Alternatively, you could stop clinging to some words I used to describe in a sarcastic way that I don't like pet shops and realize that:

1. They're just really poor design for an economy and are a novelty at best.

and

2. You should realize that if I'm complaining about eyesight, I'm probably older, which means I'm not from the "me" generation, in fact I'm probably from the last generation that was raised to work for things they want.

AH is better, and if someone is too lacking in "will time and eyesight" to click a couple filter boxes and/or type in an item name, then they probably can't play the game at all.

Stop being a drama queen. It's not spiteful or hateful, it's just smart and efficient.

What you're stating about design and efficiency are your personal opinions. Odd opinions, actually, as we can look at the real world and realize that despite the presences of tools like Ebay and Amazon.com, plenty of consumers love to go to shopping at the store. Now, if you're getting too old and crotchety to enjoy browsing through stores... ;) I kid, you brought up age first, though!

Fact is, several MMOs use both player shops and an auction house together and both tools do just fine in the same system and are both well used (and even compliment one another). I think if you read through this thread and others on the topic you'll see that most of the opinions feel very differently than you. Calling for the removal of a feature just because you dislike it, when said feature is completely optional, does reek of being selfish and spiteful, however.

I fully expect your backing should I start a thread calling for the removal of the trade chat channel. ;)

personal shops are pointless, they do nothing but lag the main city with unneeded ppl standing around, AND its much easier to find what you need in a single database rather than running around to hundreds of shops for hours looking for the best price when you could simply search the AH and hit sort by price. they needed to be gone they are useless.

It is clearly a valid preference to want them removed or to want them to stay. We are not going to get anywhere with logical debates or insulting each other over this. I have faith that EME is competent & making changes intelligently, otherwise I would not have bought the game & we would have much more to worry about then any single issue. I also highly doubt they would change a change back because that would open too many doors.

The news article simply highlights the positive aspects of removing the player shops in a clear & concise manner.

Any game that has both, has the majority using the Auction house. It wasn't some kind of weird "nobody uses the auction house because they have shops" deal, like everyone wants to argue to defend the removal.

It was just content for those who enjoy looking around at markets and such in real life.

But no, you just had to have people complain that having the option to enjoy different opinions is bad. Everything needs to be removed and only one single content should be allowed. You should have one Auction House, one Arena, one Dungeon, and that is it. Anything else and it becomes "cluttered and annoying" for the masses.
