Except there is still a trade chat, that you might miss important things in, so until EME removes that, we are at the same situation as if pet shops existed, except worse.
EME needs to start being consistent with changes, and not be completely random.
Wait what?
HAHA. No wonder all your threads about the same arguments are so pointless.
Although I wish they left the shops in...if player shops exist...they are mandatory. Someone who chooses not to see them will be closing himself off from a large chunk of the market.
Therefore people will be compelled to use them even if they don't particularly want to (to find what they need to buy).
Just going to comment on this concern (in general, not aimed at anyone in particular). This concern has been brought up before, but as others are pointing out a player will always be missing out on a large chunk of the offerings on the market unless they're willing to monitor the trade channel in addition to the auction house. And yet (unlike the player shops) the trade channel remains (and nobody seems to be concerned about that).
It's a perfectly valid counterpoint. But ignoring it a moment, there is also the argument that players shouldn't expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. For example, unless a player participates in both PvE and PvP, they're going to be missing out on rewards that can be obtained from each mode of play. What if they don't like PvP and refuse to participate? Should we just give them the rewards gained from PvP anyway? Should we just remove PvP so that the central hub of gameplay content is PvE?
What if you like PvE but you hate raiding and refuse to participate in raid content? Do we just give the player raid rewards anyway? Do we remove raids from the game entirely so that the central hub of PvE content is questing?
That would be ridiculous. And yet for some reasons some people would rather see player shops removed from the game because they don't want to miss out on the shop inventories, but they don't want to make an effort to browse through them. Suddenly we need to centralize the market.
It is ok for a game to offer different ways of playing it. And it's reasonable to suggest that players are not going to be able to beat the game at every turn if they're not willing to participate in all the different ways a game can be played. Yes, that means that one player may not do as well economically as the next if s/he is not willing to put in the same amount of time and effort into using the auction house, or using the trade channel, or using the player shops, or using all three market tools. As with any MMO feature that is optional, these are all choices we make as we attempt to balance our play time.
What is not reasonable is to remove a feature just because someone can't be bothered to use it, but doesn't want to miss out on the rewards that can be gained from it. That's not only unreasonable, it's extremely selfish.
I seem to vaguely recall I might have posted in this thread before, so maybe my voice doesn't count again, but still ... it must be very clear by now that this is a controversial issue and that quite some( though possibly far from the majority) customers are very unhappy with the shop removal.
If you( EME) as a company would really take pride into reacting to customer feedback you'd have developed a solution to this by the date the game starts for real.
Just disallowing shops within city limits of major towns would have been enough - and that should be fairly easy to code.
I can't read through 70+ pages of forum. Can someone tell me what the benefit to having these shops is over the AH? Can you sell items in them that cannot be sold in AH or something? Why not just use the AH? How is searching through stores 1 by 1 any benefit to anyone?
I know there must be a reason as this is the 74th page but it is way beyond me as to what it is?
Please answer I will support the cause if I am convinced.
I'm glad they removed them as they'll just end up being free RMT site advertising , they are an eyesore to look at but if you turn them off then you end up missing items that aren't listed on broker, Yeah I just don't think any game really needs shops when it has an auction house.
I support EME's decision to remove these shops .. stick to your guns EME and keep them out of Tera.
